BUT I will say a couple of things about that:
1. You would want the very highest spec windows tablet you can get, and even then I doubt many people would call it playable.
2. A number of things stopped working during the patch process and the commonly installed windows version on tablets has changed, too - I would want to actually SEE it working on a windows tablet before I blew a load of cash.
I do not know if all remote desktop apps work the same way but I just tested this with Splashtop and it works just fine. If you have Windows 10 then you can find the app in the app store. It is free but only when connected to the same network. If you wanted to use it to play games from work, or some other network, then you would have to pay (or connect your PC to that network too and it would be free again). Put the app on your PC and phone/tablet and start up the game on your PC. Connect to your PC with the phone/tablet, and boom, Rome II: Total War on mobile. I assume you can use whatever remote desktop app you like but I do not know if they will all work.
As far as tablets go, if you have a Nvidia GPU, then I suggest looking into their Nvidia Tablet. It is made for tablet gaming (2.2 GHz quad-core CPU) and offers you the ability to stream games that Geforce Experience sees on your PC to the tablet. Which is obviously way better than a remote desktop app, but again, you need a compatable Nvidia GPU in your PC for this to work. They also offer a service like Playstation Now where you can pay a monthly fee and have access to a bunch of games to stream to your tablet from their servers. It is controller compatable too, if you like controllers. The tablet costs $200 USD, and full disclosure, I think they had to recall the first batch because the batteries were overheating and catching fire when recharging. I have not heard anything like that regarding the most recently released versions but I would be safe when charging it regardless.
No big developer gets it yet that people might like to use touch controls through Steam streaming. I think they should, because there is a lot to be said for the couch gaming experience on cheap-as-heck windows tablets as a thin client, especially in strategy/tactical games.
Dragonfall, XCOM: EU/W and a few others work, though, so if you want some thoughtful gaming on your tablet, there's that. :)
