DLC has no effect on game version, as all DLC are added to the game files through patches. So aslong as you are both on the same version of the patch (Patch 17 would be standard, Patch 16 through the Betas Tab) that shouldn't be an issue.

Please could you both start up the game, and on the main menu check the numbers in the top right hand corner. Assuming you are on the current patch (Patch 17) it should say:

v2.2.0 Build
16155.736913

If there is an * asterisk after the second number, you are using a modified version of the game. Which probably means that person has used a mod at some point, and it hasn't been removed properly from the game (as the mod launcher is notoriously bad at completely removing all files created by a mod.) In that case you will need to manually remove the mod files yourself. Can't remember the exact directory, sorry, but try checking the troubleshooting stickies in this forum, as I think it says there.

If the number is different, then either one of you is on a different patch, or it could mean files have got corrupted somehow.

Both of you verifying the integrity of the game cache in Steam would be a good step, incase it is just a corrupted file issue. Instructions for this can be found in the Patch 17 Troubleshooting Sticky Thread.

Hope that helps.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

In addition to Welsh Dragon, unsubscribing from launcher or workshop page don't remove the files, you need to click on delete in the mod section of the game launcher. The directory is:
where ever your steam is installed/steamapps/common/total war rome 2/data folder.

Yes, I never accounted for that either. I did have the symbol but was unaware it was significant. I have only ever looked at my games screen and no one else. lol Thank's Welsh, that should likely clear it up! :):steamfacepalm:

Glad I could help.
