Disappointed - Pets won't run away

I did a test leaving the dogs and cats in the middle of the street to see if they would run away from the hotel or not, but nothing happened. The next day they reappeared inside their rooms. I was a little disappointed. I'm still considering whether to download the full version as I like it when there's more reality in the game.
