Indeed, if Baten Kaitos can just get its own remasters and just shadow drop out of nowhere for its PC/Steam version, then the Xenosaga trilogy (in HD for modern platforms, with QoL stuff too), would be nice as well.

I feel like to have Xenogears remade properly, would require Monolith as most the crew who worked on Gears and Xenosaga moved on to Xenoblade and they would try and do it justice, but if not, I'm perfectly happy to at least still have the original Xenogears (with its faults) to play whenever.

Not to mention that if people hate it enough, they'd rally to either mod it themselves, or pay someone to mod that censorship to be reversed or whatever changes they don't like to be reverted.

Star Ocean 2 remake happened. They are more than capable of doing a Xenogears remake justice as well.

The problem with remastering the first two Xenosaga games is that they plain suck and need to be remade instead

gears is SE property and they have not given up the license. perhaps modern sensibilities are keeping them from releasing the controversial game, but who knows. It could also be embarrasment over the rushed latter half of the game where the team ran out of time and resources and were told to conclude the story.

FWIW, i never really enjoyed saga. it was stretched out into multiple games when it could have been done in less, and i remember grindy dungeons and sluggish combat that always felt like filler in between story beats. Unless it includes QOL like fast forwarding in the modern FF rereleases, you're better off watching full movie on YouTube
