"Good afternoon everyone, we have some news regarding the release of Lorena and the Land of Ruins.

Due to concerns from the developers regarding the content of the 18+ version they have requested that we not release the 18+ standalone version or an 18+ patch for the Steam version in any form, be it official or unofficial.

They will simultaneously also be taking down the 18+ version of the Japanese version as well and will not be producing adult content in the future.

As we wish to abide by the wishes of the creators, we will be only releasing an all-ages version of the game. We understand this may be disappointing for some of you, but adult content made up a very small portion of the game, and the gameplay aspects are not affected.

We hope you enjoy the title regardless."

Yeah, something tells me this will go a bit farther than just removing all the game over sex. The game originally had the ability to turn off all the adult content, but who knows if there's going to be more censored clothing damage or no pantyshots

Is there really any appeal to this game outside of the adult content? From what I’ve seen on screenshots, a lot of the environments seem asset flipped, and if that thing got taken from it, it would be unidentical from other mass produced Unity shovelware on Steam.

Removing the R-18 Japanese version from sale sure is a great way to completely destroy your sales. lol.

Also, the game has the dreaded 50Hz Unity FixedUpdate stuttering, so it may as well be Steam storefront or eShop shovelware if that was able to fly past the radar.

I just heard from friends about this new change. I'm just glad I had previously gotten the game from DLsite since I do have some knowledge in Japanese but it sucks because I loved the game and the R18 content in it.

With the adult content removed, one has to wonder, why even buy this game over Little Witch Nobeta? Both don't have explicit content. Nobeta is a much better game. The devs of it though are not trying to farm social points with the West.

TLDR: Buy Little Witch Nobeta instead. Thank me later.

Yeah from what I've played it seems pretty generic. I thought the point of adult content in these type of games are the selling point lel. I hope the reason is at least it due to wanting to take game development say more seriously rather than trying to score social points and/or catering to certain people.

Just bothered to look at the screenshots. It seems they kept the bra and panty customization, and the mature warning mentions "slight" clothing damage, so possibility only the adult scenes were removed. AFAIK, the clothing destruction didn't go nearly as far as something like senran kagura

I'm not really too upset over losing those scenes. They're almost always rape, and that ain't a good time for me

I was going to buy this on DLSite then when I was purchasing it wasn't available for purchase, the same time this hit on steam the dev took it down on DLSite, I was able to only get the demo, but the full game with the R18 content no I wasn't. Been waiting for this translated with all it's content, however things happened and even the JP version which I'm willing to buy wasn't available for me. This is a really sad thing.
