Need help making x360ce work properly with this game
I've been using my PS2 controller with x360ce to emulate the 360 pad controls for dozens of games now, and although some took some work to get right, eventually I managed to get every one of them to work properly. This game though I can't figure out what's wrong. Essentially what happens is a bunch of controls are reversed. A is B, X is Y, bumpers are triggers, right analog stick down is right analog stick right, etc.

I've googled and browsed a ton of threads about this, but none of the solutions seemed to work for me. Hook modes on Compatibility or Disabled don't work. Using the latest version of xinput1_3.dll doesn't work. Manually inverting the controls on the ini file doesn't work. Replacing the xinput file in the bin folder doesn't work. The game always seems to rewrite the controls to whatever it has defaulted.

Does anybody perhaps have any tips on how I could fix this? Thanks.

Is the game maybe pressing 2 buttons at once for you? I think you need to add HookCOM=1 to the .ini file, so it looks like this:
[InputHook]
HookMode=1
HookCOM=1
Explanation:
x360ce emulates a Xbox360 controller with standard DirectX controllers. The game does suppport both types of controllers, and without HOOKCOM=1, the game is detecting 2 controllers, 1 with its default bad button layout and the x360ce Xbox360 controller. HOOKCOM=1 removes the standard DirectX controller.

Or you have 2 controllers and need to delete the 2nd one from the config.

It would have been nice if there was a tuturial telling stuff like:
- You need to use the 32 Bit version of x360ce, even on 64 Bit systems, because the game is 32 Bit.
- You need the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable for x360ce to work for this game, in the 32 Bit version(X86 instead of X64).
- The latest version is bugging about the config version, and you need to add Version=1 in the [Options] part of the .ini file.
- If you have 2 controllers, you should manually remove the 2nd controller from the .ini file, everytime you make changes with the x360ce GUI.
- If the dpad is not saving correctly, you need to add a D-pad POV=1 to the .ini file after using the GUI, so it looks like this:
D-pad POV=1
D-pad Up=UP
D-pad Down=DOWN
D-pad Left=LEFT
D-pad Right=RIGHT

Did you try HookCOM=1? Did you read my explanation?

HookCOM=1 solved for me, thanks very much! Based on your instructions, I created a small step by step tutorial to help others in need:

God Bless you...after 3 days of trying to figure it out...-bows-

I tried using x360ce with this game and a Techsolo TG20 controller, but got a similar problem. Some actions were bound to two different keys and blocked other actions this way.
Then i found this post: http://steamcommunity.com/app/214560/discussions/0/558748822567410671/
and tried it without x360ce, just using the BigPicture settings. That worked for me quite well.
