Both my versions of Alien Isolation (Steam and Epic) have stopped working.

Both my versions of Alien Isolation (Steam and Epic) won't boot up on 3 different PC's. It's just stopped working. Any body else getting this?

Come on guys, this is killing me, I've got 160 hours on this game. It makes no sense. It loads for a few seconds then nothing on 3 different windows PC's. It still works on my Steam Deck so it can't be a server thing.

Does the game actually close or does it sit on a black screen? If it sits on a black screen, try letting it sit there for several minutes and see if it eventually loads. I've seen issues like this with corrupt Steam Cloud data, which would explain why it's affecting multiple devices. Maybe try backing up your local saves, and then clear your Steam Cloud save data and see if that helps.

No luck. I'm gonna blame it on mods. I used the enhanced graphics and no HUD mods on everything but the Steam Deck. It's either that or the last graphics driver update screwed up something on my old card.

Figured it out. It's missing C:\Windows\SysWOW64\xinput1_3.dll

You can download and install the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Microsoft that supplies some of these legacy DLLs (per the page).

Thank you for this solution. The game was working fine for me in VR until the latest SteamVR update, and then I found out I had to reinstall/repair both X86 and X64 C++ runtimes, which worked for the past 2 days. Now this morning I go to play and the game won't load, but then I saw your solution. I installed the DirectX legacy runtime, and now it's working again.
I have no clue why these system files are disappearing and needing to be replaced though.
