If you only want a couple of the DLC pieces, then it is cheaper to just buy the ones you want.
The 2 pieces of DLC that most fans like the best are Crew Expendable and Last Survivor - which let you relive the last 20-30 minutes of the original Alien film, as the crew of the Nostromo attempt to prep a ship for evac, while setting the power core of the Nostromo to self-destruct (while being hunted by something they don't want to be caught by).
The other DLC packs add more levels to the "Survivor" game mode in Alien Isolation. Survivor is a mission mode that features no story, but has you inhabit various people aboard the Space Station that Isolation takes place on, at various stages of things going to hell. You will be asked to race against the clock to complete certain objectives in a relatively short series of missions, without dying. These modes are well-received by some (it gives you more of the game, in bite-sized chunks, that encourages you to replay them to beat your best times), but not by others (it features no story, no saves, and features identical gameplay to the campaign, without any of the features that made it more compelling, like exploring new areas and unlocking new equipment over a span of time).
Conversely, if you just want to buy the game and skip the DLc, that's totally an option. Alien Isolation and its DLC goes on sale fairly often these days, so you can buy the game now, see if you enjoy it, and if you want more, come back for the Fall/ Halloween sale, or the Winter sale.
Addendum to my post above: if you think you may want Crew Expendable or Last Survivor at any point, buy the Collection now. It is basically the same as buying Alien Isolation and those 2 DLCs on sale, and getting all the others for free (it is also cheaper than buying A:I and the Season Pass separately).
