Survivor Achievement
So I was currently in the process of beating the game on Hard mode, (as well as one shotting it, which is surprisingly easy when you discover you can pause and load a game during the death animation), and i heard about the new Novice and Nightmare modes.

The Survivor achievement is awarded for beating the game on the hardest difficulty setting, which before, was hard.

Now that Nightmare mode exists, does one have to beat it on THAT mode for the achievement? I am not ready for that kind of commitment, and I was already more than halfway through the game on hard, and don't want to have wasted it.

If anyone happens to know if the achievement has migrated from hard to nightmare mode, please let me know.

The achievement still counts for Hard.

Nightmare difficulty is only meant to be played only after beating the game.

Can confirm this, as i just got my survivor, one shot and mercy or prudence, a couple of hours ago, on hard.

Thanks a lot. Do you also know, does Mercy or Prudence still count if you killed someone, then died, but didn't kill them the next time? Or if you kill friendlies and get a game over?

I hope i don't screw up the achievement because of that.

Friendlies aren't considered humans by the game as far as I'm aware, so that should be fine. Killing and restarting I'm unsure about.

Does anyone know if you can switch to Hard difficulty right before beating the game and still get the achievement? I'm on my second playthrough on Normal difficulty and I'm not sure if I'll want to play through a third time.

I tried, doesn't work. I think it needs to have the entire save run played on Hard.

Damn, I figured as much. Might as well try nightmare just to be able to say I finished on nightmare!

you can't switch to nightmare if you play on any other difficulty :)
and it seems that you can't ease diffuculty on nightmare

yeah you can continue on hard to get the achievement. the game actually lets you know this when you pick nightmare, warning you that you do not have to play nightmare to unlock the achievement and can play on hard mode instead if you wish.

Do I have to start a new game to get the survivor achievement or is it sufficient to set the difficulty to hard and restart from mission one? This way I would have the chance to collect the missing id tags without losing the ones I already collected.

If I'm not mistaken, (it was 6 months ago now) I kept all my collectibles when I restarted. I'm pretty sure that's what I did and not start from mission one, but I did get the achievement whichever way.

OK, thank you.

it's funny how i played on nightmare mode for my first playthrough when there is no achievement for it, apparently since hard mode awards the achievement
