I'm not really understanding the ending... [SPOILERS]
After pre-ordering the game, i JUST beat it right now, and i'm confused at the ending. What happened to the girl that was going to rescue you? What happened to Amanda?

Can someone fill me in on something i missed, or is the ending like Evil within: You decide what it means?

Alien Isolation is an official Alien game (its definitely canon!). The game takes place after Alien 1 and (ca. 50 years) before Aliens (2). In Aliens (2) Ellen asks for her daughter (Amanda) and she is told that Amanda died 2 years ago (natural cause). So she is alive (at the ending), i dont know why they made this ending such weird.

If this game is canon why cannot the alien be killed like they are killed in Aliens? The marines killed a whole bunch of them in the movie Aliens...that, to me is one of the major flaws with this game. I enjoyed the game but I cannot believe it is canon.

There has been a lot of discussion about that. Ultimately the answer to why you can't kill the alien is because this is a stealth game where the alien is supposed to be a constant threat. If you could kill the alien then it'd be a shooting game. You need to make sense of why the weapons in Isolation don't kill the alien yourself.

I just pretend the revolver is deliberately underpowered and fires tiny calibre bullets at low velocity so it can't pierce the hull and do catastrophic damage to the space station. It's a self defence weapon not necessarily made to kill people but to disable people at close range.

Same for the shotgun. Its rounds have fewer shot in them than a real world counterpart or whatever. Again, it's an underpowered version designed specifically for Sevastopol so people can use it to defend themselves at short range but it won't pierce the hull of the station.

Or maybe you can tell yourself that only military grade weapons with AP ammunition can kill the aliens, and those types of weapons and ammunitions aren't available on Sevastopol.

You still cause the alien to bleed slightly when you shoot it, which really just indicates that you are inflicting flesh wounds. The bolt gun is a bit of problem in this regard, but since you get it right before discovering the hive, you can assume that you cause a major injury that sends the alien fleeing back there to try and recover, and others start to hunt you instead.

Yes I agree. You should try System Shock 2. One of the best Space horror games ever. The graphics are dated but several mods make them a bit better. Alien Iso reminded me a lot of that game. The pure creepiness was almost the same. Especially with the music turned off.

I've thought about playing System Shock 2, people have recommended it to me before, but it's too dated for me to enjoy it now. I'm waiting and hoping for a remastered version or something. I did play Prey (2017) which people have said is a lot like System Shock 2. That was a great game.

Duh! It was probably a Weyland-Yutani ship. The bought the entire station to to capture the Alien. Obviously they were going to send a crew or FLEET of ships to go grab it. Wasn't their W-Y guys on the space station at the end. Hadn't they already arrived? Either way W-Y spent a gazzilion dollars trying to capture this alien. They new about WAY before the event of Alien 1. That is why they put the android on the ship. That is why they bought the space station. That is why the colonized LV 242. Anyway I think it was pretty obvious it was more than likely a W-Y ship.

What I do think is also is she was probably impregnated with an alien. We see her captured and tons of pods open.
theres a closed one infront of her, that never opens I think that was the Amanda Pod

What you believe doesnt really matter when the official decision is that the game IS canon.

But obviously the game is about horror and tension as you sneak through the station while a xenomorph is hunting you. If they allowed us to kill it, there is no game here at all.

edit:
Ah, several years old post. Sry for res.

I could add to this message over me that:

Probably the shotgun and pistols use small calibers that can't effect that much to the Alien.

In addition Ridley Scott consider these creatures inmortals. If we take seriously this idea, the aliens from aliens should recover if you give them the time to recover from the wounds. In other words no Xenomorph can be destroyed compleatly but maybe like they destroyed one in Alien 3 or Ripley's sons, disolving them compleatly.

But I like to think in Isolation that my shotgun and revolver are not that powerfull against the alien while marines use really powerfull ammunition.

You guys just think an entire game event is a dream? Are you the same people who think squall was killed at the end of the first disk in final fantasy 8? Saying something is a dream sequence, with no indication that it’s a dream sequence does not add up. Obviously she survived and was picked up by a ship probably weyland. It’s not some big complicated thing, and I don’t know that she was impregnated either did not see any huggers get on her face and when she was in the hive all the eggs I saw were closed until approaching them.

The ending was very simple, and the aliens were pissed off and hoarding her ready to kill her. They don’t do that to hosts they don’t kill or attack hosts.

In addition she was three days before being saved... if she was impregnated an alien should have born by then. Nice to see someone that accept what the game shows without saying ♥♥♥♥♥ that doesn't appear inside the game.
