I totally agree with you.
That is the kind of attitude I felt Amanda carried in Alien. She was freaked out at first but learned to deal with the situation at hand quickly enough. Like "OK, this is screwed, but crying about it won't help me. Let's just handle it." kind of thing. Lara developed this mentality toward the end of her game but by then it seemed forced, like she flipped her superhero switch on. I guess you could say that about Amanda too though, since she dealt with her situation a little easier and more quickly. Amanda's VO seemed more grounded to me.
I think they were both done well. Amanda's definitely wasn't bad, it just wasn't so focused on her emotions like every other game seems to do with their main character. It was kind of refreshing to be honest.
As the game progresses however, I think she began to understand who her character (Amanda) was and her voice acting improved quite a bit. But boy, the beginning of the game was pretty rough for sure.
I didn't get that from this game.
I noticed that too. I thought she did a good job when Samuels died. She sounded pretty real and convincing there.
Add me, too. I thought the VO for Amanda was spot-on.
