At a point though, you're guaranteed to almost run out of fuel. I wont say where or why, because some havent reached that far.
This is a good way of explaining it. Flamethrower was introduced at a pretty good point in the story and I liked how it switched up the gameplay.
After a while, it gets more intense, since the alien learns how you use it. (firing in short bursts, if it's empty etc.)
At a point, all i had to do to stop the alien was to aim the flamethrower at it, it would stop dead in it's tracks and stand there trying to figure out what i did next. That only lasted a few times though, as it quickly learned that i wouldnt fire unless i had to.
Basically, give the xeno a hand, and it will take the arm. ;)
Yeah, I was playing on hard and I had a really hard time finding any fuel at all which made the Flamethrower really a last resort. I only found fuel at some points where it is scripted that you should find fuel but besides that I found barely anything at all. I often was down to having about 100 fuel or less.
This is a fair point as well. Flamethrower has to be in the Alien game in some form or fashion. Plus I hate defenseless games I don't think they make the game more frightening. Yea, I know you wouldn't even be defenseless without the flamethrower. But I appreciate what they did with it. Plus, use it too much and the Alien will wise up.
It created some of the most epic moments in the game for me, like when I had the alien literally tail me in a narrow hallway and he wouldn't go back into the vents even after heavy use of the flamethrower (I think there was no vent for it to flee to nearby). I just kept him at bay, cut around a corner to break line of sight and went behind an object to hide. Then on my way back through the same corridor, the alien was blocking the door i needed to go in, so I forced him back with a couple of bursts and slipped through. That was the only time I ever dared to go toe to toe with the alien like that and only because it really needed to be done.
Only use it when you absolutely have to, don't bring it out if you don't plan on using it. I've seen people having so much trouble with the alien particularly in the later parts of the game because they think they can just blast him back into the vents whenever he's in the way, when it is always better not to engage the alien. The flamethrower really pisses him off and he will return to you quickly and never leave you alone.
So no, it's a great addition to the game. If you play well it'll be an invaluable life-saver and if you play bad it's gonna make the alien frustrate the ♥♥♥♥ out of you in no time.
you should need way more fuel on the alien so overall you will have only 2 shots with a fully loaded ft
Maybe you should at least finish the game before posting about how the "flamethrover was a bad idea".. Just saying
Well, you've definitely just jinxed yourself completely.
