This game has serious pacing issues.
A quarter of the game without the Alien? Seriously? Game should have been half as short.

The only thing I dont like is there are too many mad hard to kill robots.

You don't have to kill them all, though. Entering the reactor core, many make the mistake to kill the 4 industrial joes before descending to the hive, thus losing valuable bolt gun ammo. It's better to outsneak/outrun those. Coming back you'll have to deal with 4+4 joes and need the ammo.
I just did a mad dash right there, didn't care whether they saw me or not lol.

If you are quick with the overload later on, the Reactor will burn the last 4 Joes if they are near the central platform.

You just run to the last switch when they spawn behind you, take the other way back and they will all be nicely stacked up ready to be destroyed by the reactor.

I found the pacing poor, it pummels you with the alien for too long, then lets you go about your day without the alien for too long. Not to mention the parts with whack-a-mole android shooting. It should have been roughly half the length and cut the fat, there is far too much fat. The completition rate is evidence enough that the game is too long.

No....the completion rating is not enough evidence. Studies show that more than half of any games audience never finishes it. There was no "whack a mole" shooting at all in this game. Especially with the androids. That implies the androids took cover...which they never did. Everything you said is a poor suggestion or misinformation....

It's pacing is fine. It's needs sections without the alien so that we don't have to keep changing pants due to all the tension

As for the length of the game, that's opinionated and for me it's fine. I prefer a good long game and I feel this games length is fine and worth the money
I agree the pacing is fine...everybody is going to have an opinion on this, but maybe their playing the game too fast. I've got 20 hours in and only on the 14th or 15th mission...playing more stealthy using the vents in the walls and floors. Seems to me you have to be as stealthy as the alien or you will get killed a lot, which could be causing the pacing issue for some. The point in the middle of the game without the alien is a good change up....I was to the point where I needed a Xanax trying to stay away from that thing and get the objectives done. The guy who gave this game a rating of 5.9 on IGN must have been on drugs...to me it is game of the year, but I've only played a few from 2014.

The completion rating is only evidence of the deteriorating attention span and concentration ability of the average human these days. Everyone is "kid in candy store" now and can't focus on one thing because they must have all the things! Too many games. Forget finishing one. I'd rather cram as many as possible into as few hours as possible.

Game of the Year. If I want a 10 hour game I'll buy a Call of Duty game and fly through it as fast as possible. These are the same people that complained about Bioshock and Deus Ex. Ugggh! Too long! Bad pacing! Whatever... go play a phone game.

To be honest, the Xenomorph doesn't show up in Alien until about a quarter of the way through the movie aswell.

You guys know that just because the pacing is poor doesn't mean it is a bad game, far from it. It is possible to criticize something you like. This is a problem with video games throughout. I feel the last game that got pacing dead on was Last of Us. I always felt engaged and interested. Gamers are far too binary though. Either a game is perfect or garbage.

That is the thing though. I thought the pacing was spot on for this game. Even TLOU was one of those ten hour long cinematic games. This game actually has a longer campaign and that is one of the things I like. No game is perfect...you are right there. But this games pacing was not one of its issues. It has slower moments. There is nothing wrong with that. Especially considering the first quarter of the film had no alien in it.

My problem is people these days are too hyped up. They are not taking their time and they are rushing through the game. That isn't how to play a game like this. You are supposed to take your time. People have no patience anymore and when the game isn't an explosion simulator they try to say it has "poor pacing".

If you cut out every bit that didn't have alien or according to you considered "fat" the games plot would not make sense and we would be wanting more. No the game length is fine and the completion rate has nothing to do with it

Pacing is something Isolation excels at, mirroring the glacial tempo of the film, but never outstaying its welcome. “We felt like there was a good variety in the game. We wanted to keep changing things up, so that just as you were getting a bit more confident, we’d throw something new at you.

Some critics found the game too slow and overlong. I ask Hope why he thinks there was such a split in opinion. “We tried to put as much into the player’s hands as possible. Pace can often be determined by your own play style and how confident you’re feeling.

Really this again, your basing purchasing the game based on how many people are playing a singleplayer game, what a joke and not the clown funny kind either, who cares if no one is playing the game, its sold over a million copies (not shipped)
