climbing the ladder after the explosion

how the heck do I climb the ladder in medi labs after the explosion. it just says hit enter. does not seem to matter if i tap it once or if I keep on tapping it, I just seem to fall off. What am I missing?

Hit enter? I don't remember getting that prompt. I am using the default keybinds.

For me I looked at the ladder, pressed 'E' to start climbing the ladder. I then had to press the 'W' key (which is for me my move forward/up key) to actually climb up the ladder and other parts, with various "Push 'E'" event's that happened at various points as I climbed up.

Have you changed the keybindings?
How far are you getting up the ladder?
Have you tried pressing the up/forward key (W by default, or even try the up arrow key)?

pressed e, then forward button, nothing happens. just hang there then fall off. on videos that i have watched they seem to fill the button screen by repeated tapping, however that wont work either. will just have to keep trying.

that's odd. I got past that not too long ago. Heck i would not have known there was a way up if that prompt of "E" didn't pop up. I was given sufficient notice what I should do from previous encounters with such prompts. If a bar begins to fill, I need to press the button multiple times in succession to progress. If if it disappears after a press then I only needed to hit it once.
Since I was on a ladder, I pushed up "W" to climb as done with all ladders.

Assuming you looked up and started climging I remember holding the up key and having to hold or press multiple times the other use key.

I fell off of it near the top at the vent and died....was not amused. I believe it's E to start the climb, then forward button, can't remember. I believe the game prompts you. I do remember I only had to hit a few buttons, the game did most of the work, semi-cutscene. I may have downgraded the difficulty for the climb to medium.
