Do items auto-upgrade with new blueprints?
I'm wondering if the gear you can make automatically upgrades to the better version when you find the schematic, or whether you only get the improved version when you craft new items?

I'm asking, as I just recently got the schematic for Smoke Bomb V2 - but when I look at my item list/circle (Q - for crafting and selecting items) I only see 1 "Smoke Bomb" option in the window, and it seems to indicate that it is V1, and not V2.

This has me somewhat confused, and makes me wonder if you only get V2 gear after using the V1 gear & then crafting V2 gear.... or if it's just not displaying correctly.

That screenshot should show what I'm seeing - I have crafted 3 Smoke Bombs (max craftable), and under where is says "Item Maxed" it shows as V1. Yet I have the V2 blueprint (which should be obvious to anyone who recognizes where that screenshot is taken)

Edit - lol dunno why it says I have 2 Stun Baton's o_O

And yes, I have nearly all items maxed. I have been lucky so as to not have to use items so far. Also, yes I know I am slow in playing, but can only take the suspense &tension in short burst's.

Thank you! I just read the description from the crafting screen, and it indeed does say "This upgraded version..." - so it does upgrade items, at least for NEW crafted gear.

That's the craft window - it clearly shows it's the V2 upgraded Smoke Bomb and not the V1 smoke bombs.

Still don't know if the version I have already crafted gets auto-upgraded or not though.

I have placed all 3 already crafted and then crafted another - the V1 in lower left corner in the Q crafting circle/screen stays the same. So doesn't seem to indicate what version of item you have crafted (I had 0 mats in place when I crafted the last Smoke Bomb).

So I'm at a loss as to how to know what version of an item your using - at this point, because there's no indication... I'm assuming when you upgrade your blueprint it also upgrades anything already crafted. I have no way to reasonable/reliable/accurately test this however.

i think it will be always made the highest possible version of an item. if u have v1 and v2 from flashbang for example, it will always v2 produced.

The V1 is next to your hacking tool (which can be upgraded twice) - It's got nothing to do with your smoke bombs! The greyed out icon below it is for the cutting torch which also comes in three versions (gas, plasma, ion), its greyed out since you don't have it yet.

The versions for the craftable items aren't shown anywhere, which is pretty annoying. The best you can do is look for the text in the description "this upgraded version..." which means that it is at least V2, but there's no way that I know of to determine if your blueprint is V2 or V3, unless you memorise the exact text for each version of each item! Seriously, come on CA, you can do better that this, show us version numbers for our craftable items!

The stun baton uses charges/ammo like every other weapon, that's why it says 2 next it it, if you attack something with it, it will use up one charge and you''ll need to reload it to use it again.

Thank you for the replies and answer's. At least I now know what the V1 is referring to! lol

I agree that there should be some indication of what blueprint your on - whether it's V1, V2 or V3.

Regarding the Stunbaton & the ammo it uses - is it a limitless ammo (ie can just keep 'reloading'), or do you need to find ammo like the revolver?

I do not know if I understand you correctly but I can use it several times in succession. without reloading after every "shot".

You do indeed need to find ammo for it, the charges look like small black and blue cylinders.

I did mix up the one shot at a time thing though. It's the bolt gun that only holds a single shot at a time. The stun baton can actually be loaded with up to five charges at once I guess its just the way I use it, I just use it to one-shot kill the androids (stun them and then beat them to death with the wrench before the stun wears off) and I always reload it after every combat, so in my mind, use one charge to stun, beat to death with wrench and then reload stun baton. :P

Be careful about watching your charges, when it is empty you can still prod enemies with it, but it just won't do anything, so make sure you notice when it is empty and reload it or you're just poking them with a stick.
