Flamethrower seems OP to me
It takes a significant expenditure of fuel to make the Alien run away without hurting you (like 30-40+ usually) yet if you let it run at you, you only need the barest tap of the flamer to make it bowl you over then run off instead of killing you.

Given that I've been 6/6 on medkits for most of the game... yeah...

this especially made crew expendable and last survivor quite easy, where I had barely any flamer fuel but didn't really care.

I felt like I was experiencing the transformation Ellen Ripley had from Alien to Aliens. During the final 2~3 hours I was actually talking to my monitor like, "Oh! Here you are, been waiting for you, how have you been?", and then drove it off with flame.

Yes, flamethrower really makes the latter part quite easy. But I'm glad it does, 15 hours of hiding is more than enough for me.

Yeah, each change of pace/tack in the game is really welcome for me, the flamey bits are no exception - stops things getting old.
