Do we know exactly what changing the difficulty does? Does it dumb down the AI? Make the alien not "camp" your location as much? Lower health/weapon damage?

I'm currently playing on hard, and it's kinda kicking my butt haha. I'm wondering how much of a difference normal will make. I want it to be difficult still, but not spend-2-hours-moving-15-feet-difficult.

Also, (sorry for the double post) but what exactly does the "Emergency Override" that you find on some doors do?

I understand that it locks them, but it literally seems to only lock the door for about 3 seconds. Is there a specific reason that that you might use them?

Emergency Overrides force the door shut and keep it shut for some time, it's not permanent but long enough.

on easy you take far less damage also the alien is verry blind somtimes it can walk right past you medium on the other hand is a good ballance :)

Even on hard I can sneak right past it and it won't notice. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference xcept for taking more damage.

I'm playing on hard but it's actually not too difficult. The enemies are more aware of you and the noise you make, and you take more damage from the enemies. The AI seem too stupid on the other settings, so Hard is the way to go if you play this game.

I messed with it a bit, the biggest change is the damage you take from androids and bullets.

As for the alien, it is rather erratic to actually get a good fix on what changes. My gut feeling is that it kills you more often from hiding spots but I have no verification.

I have heard the Alien just gets a lot dumber whenever you drop down from hard. Though I can't say I have first hand experience with that because I have only played through the game on hard.

The time the door stays locked might be tied to difficulty, but I'm not sure.

The emergency override lock's the door, which can be used to give yourself trime to hide. This has infact saved me once, when I checked motion tracker and realized alien was right outside the room I was in, and had previously seen it enter this room twice while I was watching it and moving to the room. I quickly pressed the override button and hid in a conveniently placed locker by the door.

Alien entered the room after the lockdown had passed, sniffed around and wondered around for ages.... but then left the room and went somewhere else. I exited the locker and the room and continued on my way - I most likely would have died had I just gone for the locker I think (the alien was just about to shish the door open when I locked it, it would have seen me getting in the locker otherwise I think).

The emergency override might also be useful vs androids and/or humans. If your trying to just run away... if you can get into a room that has another way out (another door, vent shaft, etc) you could lock the door and then scurry for the exit to leave the human/android behind. (I have not tried this, so no idea if it would work).
