Security Tuner on the Core
So I'm at the core and after I find the signal I let go as I always do and the signal disappears after 2 secs. Please tell me this is not how the tuner works the entire rest of the game. My 50+ year old brain can only get the code normally with 1 or 2 secs to spare.

You have to go into the 2 tunnels adjacent to that room and unlock each terminal, then the timer will be increased to a doable time.

The vents you came in, hit the button next to them to activate the screens inside the tunnels, then just do a standard hack on each one to increase apollos hack detection time. Basically what jvan01 said, but pretty sure their is a button to hit too.

Thanks, I watched a vid and saw a guy adjust values on a vent terminal. Whew! I would have been screwed to finish the game without cheating otherwise.

If you ever get stuck like that again its always best to call up the Map ...often itll draw a circle around the thing you need to find / do next. After your first attempt to hack the core it would have said something like "find a way to reduce security strength" and updated your map.

Good luck with the rest of the game :)

No it never offered any comments although I've never used all my attempts because I was afraid of being permanently locked-out. I noticed the 3 attempts reset if you disconnect. Thanks.

I had to fart around that room awhile myself to figure that out. Second playthrough, I heard Amanda whisper that there was something she could do to make the hack easier. Like the good ol' days where a missed detail could have you stuck on an objective for days lol

I liked that bit infuriating as it was at the time, trying and quitting out of the hack several times until it clicked that I'd just turned on the power to those two terminals in the vents. The only vents I've seen with terminals in them the entire game.

Unfortunately, I think I went thru the "wrong" vent to get there and the terminal I passed said low power, so I ignored it. I never went to the other vent till after having trouble. My bigger issue now, after a night of pure terror in the nest & reactor is that I just got level 3 for the tuner and not sure I will able to do it. One of the issues is that I'm using my left key for something else so I have to use up and down on the movement keys and left and right via A & D. I will attempt to remap the left and if that does not work, I need a cheat or I'm stuck. Would be a lot easier if they were numbers or letters.

It will say low power until you hit the switch outside the vent from the cores side. If you are in the core, you didn't go the wrong way don't worry.

You need to try and hack it first as well to find out you need to find an alternate way, if you haven't done that you can't do the vent hacks.

I'm way past it now. Does not make sense that hitting a speaker button saves power.

It's just the control panel to active the console. Like they won't be turned on, all the time but will be activated if they need to be used etc... I guess. lol
