*Spoiler* Discussion about certain things in the game/movie
So I was wondering about the ship they found on that planet, is it the Xenomorph's ship or some other alien? Is it an Xenomorph sitting dead and fossilized in that chair in that ship or another type of alien that the Xenomorphs killed? Also what is that chair thing that it was sitting in looks like possibly a huge laser on it? Also, in the game theres some signal thing you turn off but it is never fully explained as far as I could tell and if so I suppose I wasn't paying enough attention at the time, and it never appears in the first movie. I'm assuming it was another alien who was attacked by the Xenomorphs and that was the distress signal on their ship?

Also, for people who got that far in the game, the guy you go back to,(Ricardo) after messing with the satellite dish is supposedly dead because the baby Xenomorph is attached to his face while he is sitting in the chair, but based on what I saw in the movie, he wouldn't be dead, just paralyzed or in a coma, but this is never explained and people will just assume he's dead having not seen the movie. Yes, possible he would have died later though.

Lastly, headcrabs from Half life 2, based on facehugger Xenomorphs? :)

You know this game has made me watch all the movies again. Funny thing is the first one is still great and superior to the rest.

I dont think Ive ever encountered a game that is so accurate to the source material. Quite a feat in itself.

I just watched the Alien Trilogy two days ago because of this game too lol. Although I have seen them before. I love the Alien Trilogy, such a great set of sci-fi/horror films. I also agree that the game does the films justice. They captured that future-retro look perfectly.

Ridley Scott left the alien life cycle ambiguous in the first film. I don't count the deleted scene as canon. The life cycle was fully explained by Aliens. The egg moprhing idea is unrealistic and not plausible or believable to the audience. The hive-mind/insect-like life cycle made far more sense. If you saw the original film without that deleted scene, you would never know it's true life cycle. In fact it was Ridley Scott who originally came up with the idea of the queen. But it never came to fruition in the original.

Yes, you are correct. my bad. I was referring to the deleted scene. In that case the Xenomorphs would have been quite different in the fact that there would be no need for a queen if any of them could produce eggs. Probably why he deleted that one scene.

You are correct.
The artisitic directon of the game deserves special recognition. Even those lamers at IGN gave them credit there.
Do yourself a favor and forget Prometheus ever exists, burn it in the nearest fire. Actually that's a bit unfair. If you can view the movie as a standalone sci-fi, and regard any the connections to Alien as simply early signs of senile dementia kicking in by Sir Ridley, then it's ok.

LOL. Mkay. I'll take it under advisement.
Btw, the "space jockeys"/engineers" were already an idea with Ridley Scott back in Alien(1979). Like I said earlier he left a lot of things out of the final script. The engineers was one of them. So Prometheus was not the first to have mention of the "engineers". He left the alien life cycle and the engineers out of the film to remain ambiguous. Prometheus still sucks though.

I saw Promethius without knowing in advance it was supposed to be a prequel to Alien (I have no TV) and didn't put 2 and 2 together until I saw the engineer in his/her seat (recalling vivid memories of seeing Alien when it first came out). It kinda ruined Promethius for me as my mind was trying to connect the two whilst the movie was playing. I didn't see any Alien movies since the original, so had nothing modern to draw upon.
The guy in the seat is an engineer (formerly space jockey), he was killed by a chestburster (baby alien implanted somewhere in the oesophagus/trachea/space between lungs and sternum) the 'big laser thing' is actually the flight HUD and control system IIRC. The signal you had to disable was the signal of the Nostromo flight recorder (possibly) or that of the crashed alien ship (explaining why WY had no knowledge of the ship in Aliens until Burke sends a team to a grid reference) I'd strongly recommend you watch Alien, Aliens and Prometheus. Maybe Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection if you really like the franchise.

As for headcrabs being based off facehuggers; if they are it's only very loosely. The purpose of a facehugger is to implant then die; the purpose of a headcrab is to attach itself to the head of a person, bite through their skull and manipulate their actions (and appearance) by interfacing with the host nervous system.

That's odd since James Cameron and Stan Winston have in seperate interviews about the creature designs from Aliens, never mentioned Ridley Scott besides he and Giger worked closely together to design the Drone from Alien.

It was Cameron and Winston who "invented" the Queen, because Cameron didnt feel that the Egg-morphing was believable, or that it would leave the audience with too many questions.

Since you dont like Prometheus, i doubt that you even thought the thought that maybe R.Scot was trying to explain a bit about how the Engineers got a hold of the Xenomorph eggs.

Had Fox not told Scott to NT include the Xenomorphs, it's highly likely that we at least would have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ an idea if the Xeno's were created by the Engineers, or found by them.

Given the fact that what transpires in Prometheus, it's very likely that we would also have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ somewhat of an explanation if the Xeno's relies solely on a queen, or both a queen and egg-morphing.

One question pops into my mind though, if the egg-morphing "couldnt" take place.
How is a singe Xeno supposed to be able to multiply, if no queen is present?

We know from the expanded AvP universe that Warriors can molt into Queens, or at least Praetorians, which in turn can molt into a Queen.

And given that in the Aliens(camerons) canon, Drones are infant xenomorphs, or kid xeno's if you will, it's likely that one of them could eventually molt into a Queen.

But that again raises many questions, especially if you're a purist and dont consider the alien lore, and AvP lore, the same canon.
If that's the case, egg-morphing needs to be a part of the canon, because a Queen cant just simply just jump out of the ground.

We also know from the Alien and Aliens canon, that unlike in the AvP lore, facehuggers doesnt venture far from the egg it came from, so they need workers(Warriors) to collect victims for impregnation. In the case of Alien, it's a single xeno Drone, so it has to make another egg somehow so it can get at least one more Drone(ultimately Warrior) so it can have victims. And since it isnt a fullygrown Queen, it cant make an egg, without the egg-morphing theory.

Like I said The egg-morphing was left to the make the film more ambiguous. It was Ridley who tossed the idea aroudn about a queen. I looked it up myself anf it's true that James brought it to fruition, but it was not his idea alone. Watching one or 2 interviews doesn't tell the whole story. Also the egg-morphing was a stupid idea that was cut from the film for a reason. As I already explained that. I do not except egg-morphing period. It's stupid and unrealistic. If Ridley Scott cut it out from the film then I except it. If he didn't than I would except that too.I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about AVP, or Alien 4. Those films were garbage and they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the lore imo.

Are we seriously talking about "realistic" about a Sci-fi movie?
Sci-fi means Science Fiction, which means you take something which has a foothold in science, and make fiction about it.

And since Ridley Scott put it in Directors cut, he cant have written the idea off after all.
It's fine you consider it "stupid", but leaving it out leaves massive plotholes, and makes the xeno in Alien seem pointless.
And maybe it was cut from the film at the time, because it was too creepy, or time pressure.
You yourself just said that 1 or 2 interviews doesnt tell the whole story, and we never had an official explanation by Scott why the egg-morphing scene was cut in the theatrical version.

And while we're here.. It wasnt just "one or two" interviews, it's common knowledge since Aliens came out that the Queen is Camerons and Winstons lovechild, or nightmare child if you will.

Ridley Scott made the movie with one Alien, and no background explanation to keep the Xeno mysterious, creepy and indeed very alien. We fear what we dont understand, so that was a huge part of Ridleys original idea.
I don't agree with you about anything you said. I don't mean to be rude, but I feel like I am just going to end up repeating myself over and over. I hear what you're saying I can respect it, but I don't except the things you do in this film. Also I am talking realsim in films, because it helps me as a viewer suspend belief and become immersed in the film. That is why Alien was ambiguous about the creature's life cycle. The egg-morphing concept kills that for me. I am glad I saw the original film before the director's cut. I like the unknowing of things like that, helps sustain the suspense and fear imo.
anyway good talk I'm done peace :)
Alien 3 and Resurrection implied that the Face Hugger will implant a Queen embryo into a host. A Drone won't molt into a Queen if going by Ripley's dialogue in Resurrection.

The Xenomorph in Alien 3 WASN'T a Queen. The embryo inside Ripley is the Queen. That's why the Xenomorph was protecting/avoiding Ripley because the Drone knew Ripley was the future of the Xenomorph race.

Resurrection also implied that Ripley wiped out the Xenomorphs. That's why Dan Hedaya was trying to clone Ripley to get the Queen to repopulate the species since Ripley's Face Hugger from Alien 3 implanted a Queen in her after Ripley initially wiped out the Xenomorphs to end Aliens.

Which I always wondered how did a Face Hugger get the "Queen embryo"? Was a Face Hugger like "Crap our Queen just died. Better make sure I use the Queen embryo next time"?

Both of those movies had a broader universe to take ideas from, and they're both heavily inspired by the Alien comic books.

In said universe, the Queen cant spawn from anybody, it needs a strong host, both mentally and physically. Ripley might not apear to be either, but she has a bound determination to make sure that all xeno's die. That crosses of the "strong mentality" part.

It's also worth noting that the single facehugger in Alien 3 apparently manages to impregnate 2 subjects. Ripley and the dog(or cow depending on which version you watch). This kind of screwed over the idea/history from the two other films, and the comic books, that the facehugger dies shortly after it impregnates it's host.
