How did they get the Nostromo's data recorder? (SPOILERS)
Still confused: Where did they get the data recorder from the Nostromo (Ripley's ship in Alien 1) in Alien: Isolation?

This takes place 17 (13?) years after the events of Alien. (Amanda said this to one of the engineers during the game).

Ellen Ripley's escape pod isn't found until 57 years after the events of Alien (as seen in the opening of Aliens). Burke explains this to her when she wakes.

I know that the salvage team went to LV-426 and de-activated the beacon that the derelict craft created, to attract human ships. But it's never made clear about when, or how they grabbed that data recorder.

Isn't it on Ellen Ripley's escape pod, and recovered during the opening of Aliens, when she is having that meeting with the company people?

Black box fell to lv426. Ripleys escape pod had a separate flight recorder.

Fell to LV-426? How so? Or why?

I'm not trying to criticize you, but the developers.

That would be absurd -- planes don't just have their black boxes fall out of the aircraft :p

It would probably be ejected sometime prior to the ship being destroyed. It wouldn't do much good to have a flight data recorder at all if it would get destroyed with the ship.

Hmm..... you know, that's actually a valid reason. I could definitely buy into that.

From the manual ...

15 years after the disappearance of the commercial towing vessel Nostromo,
the ship’s flight recorder is discovered floating in deep space. Its owner, the
Weyland-Yutani Corporation, immediately dispatches a team of representatives
to Sevastopol Station to retrieve it. Among their number is Amanda Ripley,
daughter of Ellen Ripley, the Nostromo’s warrant officer.

Where is this elusive manual? There's no link on the store page, like there is for every other game with a manual I've seen.

Go to my profile and read the guide that's linked to the game. You will find the manual there

The black box of the nostromo was built to survive anything like most planes these days.
Marlows crew found the black box in space, this lead to them listerning to the first couple of recordings and retrace their steps

Wow, that's a tiny manual. I can see why they might have forgotten to upload it!

This is all blah, blah, blah. All one really needs to do is have an imagination and come to a somewhat logical conclusion. I've battled many a mind on the hows and whys of the Prometheus film on subjects as minimal as this one.
