Heres the reason. He played the game in a way that made it boring, as he mentiones the used lockers over and over...and over...and over...and over....and ooooover.
This made him not enjoy the game, and its his own damn fault. U almost never have to use lockers as circling a small chair will do the same job, maybe even better.
When playing the game like this for 20 hours, my guess is he got incredibly bored, simply because he thought lockers were necessary to complete it.
IGN has become a VERY bad source for reviews, i agreed with them first, but once i completed the game myself,i knew they had played it the wrong way. Their reviews are purely based on personal preferance, and they almost ALWAYS lack to include some sort of "general" gameplay, like what most people and the standard would like.
They made a Review discussion where he explains with his coworkers, and i could just tell the guy was trying to save face.
Want he best source for reviews? Youtube Worth a Buy, Mack is the best reviewer on earth, and he is hilarious.
I would say this is a must-play computer game for Alien fans.
The douche over at IGN couldnt care less. He got bored because he played it wrong and didnt adapt to the game.
The guy is a freelance reviewer who mostly plays stealth games... So the review is far from valid.
He moaned "The AI is to hard, the game is too hard and repetitive" yet he holds the Dark Souls games very highly, them games are known for being hard and repetitive.
The problem is the reviewer wanted the game to fail, you can tell it from the word go.
The whole discussion was IGN saying "Oh, we messed up asking this guy to review this, if we get a few other reviews to try and back him up, we might save face" but all they did is prove to most people, their reviews are biased. It's not CoD? The devs didn't pay us? -1000000/10 it's not CoD.
Yes, that is true.
Compared to Dark Souls and its repetitive elements, Alien Isolation is far more polished,
without any DLC and patches yet. And I have to admit, Dark Souls itself is a masterpiece.
So, any question about Alien Isolation 's quality should be dispensable.
The real question is, what did the author intend?
I was quite amazed by Alien Isolation, and happy another milestone was done.
Maybe it is like this....'I Would Never Join A Club That Would Have Me As A Member'...?
As for me I have long stopped trusting a lot of sites. IGN is one of them. Also Kotaku and PC Gamer. I like Gamespot but think they do dumb things. Last week they did a graphics compairson with the consoles and PC. On of the videos was a pre rendered seen. I would like to think the guy doing the b-roll for the video is not that dumb. But there on my watch like. I like Giant Bomb they at least amit they have some bias on things. And are really good at letting you know if someone that reviewed the game has one.
Right down to their ladyboy reviewer; rather than hiring game reviewers who knew things about games they hired 'a more diverse crowd' (ie a bunch of underqualified nitwits with mental issues) who can't handle the fact that they might have to backtrack, manually save their progress and repeat a section if they forgot to save; they probably just got into gaming when they realised it was a way to make money by doing next to nothing, thus skipping all the amazing older games (MGS for example) and thinking everything is a linear hand-holding (though you do get a magical objective arrow early on) simulator.
Hell I think they just give some of the better games low reviews to get attention.
I give it a year before they hire Anita Sarkesian as a reviewer.
Personally the only thing that I found frustrating about the game was (spoiler ahead) the ending.
