Is there a way to reset graphics to default?
This game was running perfectly until a friend cranked up the graphics. The performance is still good, but the audio starts to crackle / studder whenever there's something major in the environment going on (explosion, steam venting out, me using the flamethrower on the alien at a close range, etc)

Is there a way to reset my graphics to default? It's a longshot, but I'm betting that's the ticket. And no, it's definately not my speakers.

You can't reset the graphic through the options menu, or did he edit a file or something?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\10758694\214490\local\settings.bin

You could try deleting this file then restart, however it may reset more than the graphics.

You may want to back it up though if all goes tits up.

If you delete it you can probably do a file integrity check from Steam to get a default copy.

Just tried deleting file and can confirm that all settings were defaulted, then reinserting my saved settings file everything was as is.

Thanks for the tip guys

But do you think if I just uninstall and reinstall the game, would it reset to default?

Probably not because steam will retain the settings file and everything will be exactly the same. Just delete the settings file in location above.

Got it. Will it mess anything up? Oh, and I've only been playing the DLC's missions so far, so I shouldn't worry about saves, right?

No wont effect saves but will reset all the settings including audio, graphics and binding etc.

Only delete the one settings file not the whole directory because the saves are in that directory too.

How about figuring out the error instead of just trying to reset or delete? Did you look in the audio menu? Maybe your PC can't handle one of the options. It's rare I hear video settings messing up audio.

Nope, the audio is still the same. Only the graphics were changed. It also can't be my speakers because every other game, movie, and youtube videos sound great with no issue.

Lol, my bad. No, he just changed the graphics via menu

Your location number maybe different to mine. Therefore search for 214490 as this is the default for Alien Isolation

No problem :-) Why can't you change it back through the menu?
