I like this game and all but it's not scary AT ALL.

I've heard so many people claiming this is the most scary game of the last few years so naturally as a huge fan of horror games I was thriller about it. Right now I'm in the fifth mission (medical with alien running around) and so far I haven't been scared even once. And atmosphere, while very good, is not disturbing/scary. And when Alien catches me and eats me with his teeth then the animation of him doing that is kind of awkward and it looks ridiculous. I have a feeling people act like it's scary because of the whole ALIEN thing. Yeah, yeah, Alien is cool and stuff but still, I wish people were more objective in this case.
Penumbra, Amnesia, Outlast, hell, even Black Mirror (the point'n'click game) were more disturbing and scary than this one.

tl;dr it's a very good game but not scary AT ALL IMO.

What are your thoughts? Anyone agrees with me?

The atmosphere isn't supposed to be scary. Have you seen the original Alien? Yeah, it's supposed to be like that: tight corridors, bulky industrial-grade tech, etc.
This is, by far, the most suspensful and tense game I've ever played. My heart has never pounded this much from a video game before.

Agreed though very tense game. It’s made me want to rewatch Alien

What are you talking about? I've escaped the Alien five or six times after its seen me. Maybe you aren't escaping it because:
A) You aren't in an area with good enough places to run and hide under/behind.
B) You think it means automatic game over, so you don't even try.

It is based upon the individual though. Some people don't scare like others. Regardless, it is a really good game. Definitley did the series justice among all others in my book.

It’s certainly one of the better Alien games. I think AvP2 is still my favourite though.

It's hard to get scared when you know and love the monster so much. I find it more of a tension filled experience, full of foreboding, suspense and a dash of anxiety.

Really? Hmm, I tried a few times but it always got me. Are you sure you can escape him on hard? I might try some more then.

If you play with the lights on or in the daytime then you are just missing the point, can't get scared when there is light everywhere. Dark room, headphones, just the light from the tv and the sounds in your ears.

You must have missed the line where I said I'm a horror fan :) I always play such games at night with blinds on and headphones on. I always want to experience the most fear possible ;)

people are different concering "being scared". I like low-paced games, and want to be scared, so i do everything to be scared. Like playing in the night, with headphones on, smoking a joint ;-) and letting the atmosphere influence me. If you played alien for steam achivements, or you want to be fast about it, then maybe it´s not so scary.

Why everyone assumes I'm doing it wrong :( I play such games at nights, with headphones on and with blinds on. And I'm very slow when it comes to games because I always look under every rock. And I started playing on hard to be even more scared. This game is just not scary for me is all :) But if I beat the game on hard I might think about collecting the 100% achievements now that you mention it. I like doing this if they are reasonable.

And i dont get your logic that you can run away in a game makes it more scary?
