KB/Mouse or Controller?
Only good thing I can see out of controller in a FP type game is vibration. But is it worth it?

What are you playing with and why?

I play with the controller.
Pros: It arely rumbles unlike other games, but I'm only on the 3rd mission. I chose it over keyboard because I wasn't comfortable with peeking, and it feels more natural.
Cons: Running is kind of hit or miss, I feel that I could run better in Tomb Raider but I'm new to the controller too.

Is it worth it: Only if you have the Windows Xbox one. I have only played it now on 2 games, but unlike Logitec (crappy) this is plug and play. I think it's nice to have around.

Keyboard and a mouse.. Anything other than that belongs on a console.
Playing FPS games with controllers is like trying to ice skate on concrete.

Using a controller on a PC game is not my first rodeo; in fact if I know a game is a console port I pull out the wireless 360 controller. It’s just smoother and works as the developers have intended.

Just fired up the game and tried both the wireless 360 and keyboard/mouse at the cryobay start.

360 controller:

Smooth and precise with controlling the speed in which you move. Staring down at your (sexy) legs reveals a smoother movement if so desired. Vibration is always a win over Keyboard and mouse, brings you into the game/moment. All buttons are naturally snugged on the structure for easy access. Combos can be used to carry out more functions.

Keyboard Mouse:

Most PC gamers would call this the master race's weapons of mass destruction. Numerous keyboards to buy that provide extra macro functions etc. to do more than the normal keyboard; mice the same.

Moving around the cryobay was 10x smoother with the mouse, but yet I couldn’t control the speed of my movement; evident of her legs. No vibration, so if it is used for events or prompt ques I lose out.

That was a small test, but it looks like I’m leaning the KB/Mouse on this one. The controll scheme and movements are rock solid. Sacrificing vibration and slow movemnt seems more ideal.

Currently playing on max settings with a 50" plasma TV @ 1920x1080p puts me into the game. Horror survival, well gonna need the KB/Mouse for this one :)

All jokes asides, there are some games which i prefer to play with a controller over a keyboard. But FPS games arent any of them.

But wih games like Outlast and this, i can see the positives of the controller, but also the massive downsides.

With a mouse, i can turn 180 with a flick of the wrist, while with a controller you have to wait for character to turn. Even with higher sensitivity settings, it'll never be as precise as a mouse, no matter what people will tell you.
Fine motor controls are the name of the game, and fact has proven that humans can pinpoint movement with a mouse mucj easier then with a joystick/controller.

But again, it's down to what people prefer, and imo nothing beats a mouse and a keyboard, for games like this(FPS).

You can switch seamlessly between them so you might as well just try it out. Personally, I can't imagine how someone could play a first-person game with a controller but then again this is not competitive mp so not as much need for precision and speed. There is also an auto-aim option in settings for controllers, I guess.

The controller vibrates whenever you get a new contact on your motion tracker. Nuff said.

So... There's a very distinct sound when it happens as well. And if i was using a controller with fried vibrator motors, what then?

@Bru741iX

Yep! I agree, ♥♥♥♥ is about to get intense on this cramped ship. Quick navigation and mouse movement will be key!

Well as long as there is an audio que, I will be sated. Besides, pumped up on the edge of my seats, I’m pretty sure ill spot whatever is on my tracker!

So mouse look works in this game as you'd expected from a PC first person game and it's not hindered and slowed down for artistic vision?

M/K like the other say its whats best used in First Person games.
Also it comes in handy that you have a good aim if you plan to shoot Androids in the head.

To be honest, with most PC games that support the controller I will use it. With this game I prefer it quite a bit.

Sure you can't turn 180 in less than a second, but it adds to the horror for me, you feel trapped in the body of this person running from this freaking scary monster and not being able to 180 with a flick of the wrist adds to the immersion to me.

The vibration is a nice way to alert you that something has come up on the motion tracker while you aren't looking at it as there are about a million beeping noises throughout the game and it keeps you from having to check to see if it was the motion tracker or something else.

Another pro for KB/M that wasn't mentioned here is that you can input passcodes with the keypad instead of using the movement keys to select them.
