It was that one mission with all the servers, some guy remotely opened a door for me to escape, and the alien went straight for it, and bumped into me.
The alien just doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥.
I think I would be alright with the alien making some decent amount of noise, just to keep you afraid. Noise is also probably good when you are hiding and don't have/can't use the motion tracker, so you can tell when the alien is safely far away or about to rip your face off.
I don't think its a matter of not needing to be sneaky, I just think that, as Doggzilla said, he doesn't have that "Sleek, Lithe movement" that we've all become accustomed to seeing with every alien aside from the Queen.
A cat still stalks a mouse the same way he stalks more dangerous prey. The level of danger associated with hunting that particular animal doesn't matter, stalking a specific way is just in his nature.
Know what i'm saying?
It still looks pretty graceful to me, but also with a much stronger feel of brute strength and power. Its ability to utterly destroy anyone who messes with it with ease is also graceful in its own way. Quite facinating to watch.
Is it actually intended to be larger than the one in the original film? I know that the devs did make slight adjustments to the legs and feet to make them more "alien" like in movement and appearance whle animating it, but I was always under the assumption that it was supposed to be the same size as the one in the movie.
He has a point :P
I believe it is suppose to be larger. There was a theory put forward some time ago that the alien may have been the same one from the original film somehow. (how the hell someone even came up with that crap theory i dont know). But iirc it was confirmed by the dev's to be a different alien and a larger one at that.
Not sure I agree with the Alien being bigger though, a typical Soldier Xenomorph is supposedly around 8 feet tall when standing. Queen is nearly Twice that, If we take the player character as being somewhere between 5'9" and 6'0" the Alien couldn't possibly be any bigger than 8 or 9 feet tall. Also, before Aliens mature into Soldiers, they start off as "Drones", basically like a worker ant or something. Those guys are around 7'0" and have the smooth head, much like the Xeno in Isolation. My guess is that as a lone Alien, having grown up on the station,, hasn't learnt the stealth/pack hunting abilities of the Xenos shown in Aliens, because it is a loner. Its possible that after this long of hunting and stalking around the ship, it has adopted or evolved a new hunting style, based on its current prey.
All guesswork obviously, I imagine the real reason is the one already touched on, its a simple gameplay element so we don't have to look at our motion tracker 24/7. It also helps give that immediate sense of danger, which you don't get when you can't tell if your enemy is around at all.
I have no idea what species' chest this one burst from. Something bigger than us that's for sure.
Bigger doesnt just have to be height, it can also mean overall body mass. maybe its just me but it certainly looks meater than the alien in the film. But then that could be down to it having alot more prey to eat by the time Amanda arrives on the space staion. However, i was referencing just the original Alien film, so i dont know how it would compare on average with all of the other canon created by the later films.
