GPU Coil Whine on Alt-Tab
While playing A:I, upon alt-tabbing, my graphics card begins to draw a massive amount of power, and starts heating up (the fan starts to rev up). There's nothing wrong with my card. It only happens with Isolation. Im using a GTX 780 with Nvidia's latest stable drivers. Anyone having similar issues?

Yep, Alien Isolation isn't the only game where this happens. It's because of 100% GPU load while on desktop.

I alt-tab out of all kinds of games, none of them cause the issue that Isolation is giving me.

Get MSI Afterburner and set framerate limit in RTSS to something like 120 to get rid of those unnecessary frames.

For some reason it sets the GPU usage to 100% when you minimize the game. I've seen it happen with a few other games as well, but its not something that usually happens.

It shouldn't be a problem, even if it is annoying. The 780 and 780 Ti are notorious for having coil whine when at 100%, mine does it as well.

Situational coil whine doesn't matter, I get it on my setup as soon as any game renders above 4000 FPS as well, as long as it isn't there all the time, it's fine.

If it's GPU temperatures you're worried about, download MSI Afterburner and set a custom fan curve.

Alright, I was just worried about possible damage from the spike in load, but I guess these things are pretty robust.
