Removal of tooltips etc
I'm playing on hard, why is the game babying me and leading me by the hand? And why do save points need to tell me if enemies are nearby? Is there any way to turn that mindless BS off?

So you want to save perhaps a second before you are killed?

Why not? If I don't see it coming, more fool me. At lower difficulties I could see this being a feature for people who feel they need the safety net, but at the hardest difficulty I see no reason to have the game nannying me in a difficult horror survival game.

OK.

so don't save....run by all the save points.

You're missing the point. It's the relentless tooltips, the contextual reminders - press E to crouch, well, no ♥♥♥♥ - the interactible items flashing orange, the containers you can open having green lights on them etc etc etc. Aside from the break in immersion, it detracts a good bit from the sense of challenge.

You do actually have a point there. I misunderstood earlier.

They're not tooltips. It's letting you know that you are in range to perform that function, in most cases. Like picking up items or entering a hatch, if you don't see the "Press...to..." message, you cannot perform the action. Hard mode would be ridiculous if you had to sit there and figure out exactly what distance and angle to be looking at something in order to perform an action.

OP seems determined he would't mind. Personaly I think he would struggle too much and want to turn them back on but in theory there could be some settings to define individual items.

Personally I'd like to see another level of difficulty with all that stuff turned off, where there's more emphasis on the survival aspect of the game whereby you just have to figure stuff out for yourself with precisely zero hand holding in order to make it both extremely hard and more immersive. Might be an idea for a challenge mode, the storyline with little to no ui and no reminders, tooltips, item highlight or contextual prompts.

Even if there was just a set of options to personalise the hud and reminders etc.

I'd hate to lose the tips. About 90% of my deaths would be caused by failed attempts to do stuff like crawling into vents because of keypresses not registering.
The press e to enter vents should not be turned off

You actually just can't enter vents until e appears so if that was turned off I would be moving back and forth spamming e, something which would kill the game

I agree about the highlighting of stuff should be able to be turned off

But the green containers being green just signify that they have something in it

It only backs up like 2 saves as far as i can tell, maybe this would be okay if there was a proper save slot system but with only 2 a player could very easily ruin the entire game for themselves by accident.

Also the tooltips are kind of necessary seeing as sometimes the prompts to get into things just plain don't work (exoplanet solutions conveyer belt is pretty bad for this when the character keeps trying to get under it). The ways of using items also aren't always consistent sometimes it's spam e to use a lever handle other times it''s rmb and s. Finally I feel it's already easy to get stuck in places, I would have dropped this game in frustration if prompts and highlights weren't in cause I never would have found the way to the colonial marshals or the level 3 access tuner.

The tooltips in this game are pretty light and I feel add to the sense of immersion rather than detract from it, sure theres no floating font telling me I require a plasma torch but at the same time the game needs some way of expressing to me that Ripley is aware you would need a plasma torch to cut that and I'm not going to derp around wondering why I can't cut into this panel like I did the other with the ion torch

You are too hardcore for this game. Actually you should stop playing childish games and start fighting real Aliens.
