Is there a post-credits stinger? (warning: spoiler tags stop working after a while)
The game crashed halfway through the credit roll. :/

i skipped the credits. I hear the ending is different if you beat it on hard. Not sure if that is true.

I beat it on hard, you blow the umbilical, get back on board your ship at long last, wander around a bit, then bam alien out of nowhere, it backs you into an airlock, you vent it and yourself into space. Long shot of you floating around, unclear if you're alive, then a light turns on you with the implication that someone's about to pick you up. Cut to black. All cliffhangery. Who's picking you up? Your ship (again)? WY asset? Random yautja? WE MAY NEVER KNOW.

Aiight, good to know. Thanks! It jumped the shark at the reactor. Still, the sequence was a work of art.

For me it did when you try to board the Torrens the first time. I jumped like crazy when I realized it was 2 of those things stalking you, damn! Also, I loved the part prior to that where it was just 1v1 with the Alien in those pitch black rooms, no androids, no humans. Would've been cool if they took away your motion tracker :D But afterwards, how easily you can escape from the nest (probably cause it's a new one, but still) just to slog around in space and then the atrocious QTE at the end, left a damn bad taste in my mouth

There were good moments, beautiful moments, but the whole reactor sequence was where it stopped being Alien and started being Aliens. They didn't come back with a queen - where did the eggs come from? ...it feels weird to wish for a shorter game, but I'd prefer it if the entire reactor-nest sequence wasn't in there. You could justify a second alien being on board super easy (another facehugger hitched a ride) and the rest of the game would work just fine. Even the space-slog. But err yeah that last QTE/"twist" can die in a fire.

in a director cut version of alien its implied that the xenomorph will hive and transform humans into eggs. This might be a means of reproduction without a queen.

Didn't know about that, would obviously explain the situation in the game.. I was wondering if we were ever going to face a queen, seeing as how many eggs were laying around there, I just figured she hid somewhere in the reactor, happily laying eggs :P

I assume you were talking about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS5MtzrW1vU

Really hope they'll do a sequel.. We'll see it probably depends on game sales.

They'd also have to come up with a tighter story this time around, not that it was bad in this game, actually pretty good, but they got more restrictions if they still want to keep it in line with the movies. Or at least some DLC, although the currently planned DLC only consists of survivor mode...

Betcha we'll know when the season pass fills out. Pretty sure that's what the lame stuff is about, leaving an opening to be filled later with Publisher-Mandated Double-Dipping. :|

I won't complain too loudy though - they made some ballsy design decisions I really respect in this game. If the price of that was contractually obligated DLC then okay sure, you do what you have to do.

(Never seen that before! My headcanon says it was left out of the director's cut for a reason, but that's just my opinion, man.)

i technically finished the game on hard, though i didnt get the acheivement cuz i started on medium and switched to hard about an hour in because people said it was better (and it isnt any harder) the ending is the same for me. Also i agree, was expecting to see a queen at some point. Quite a few plot holes and simple mistakes but still a good game

Thing is though, they said Season Pass won't contain any story DLC, it will be 5 times Survivor Mode..

At first I was excited but now if it's only 1 map every month after rushing through the one that is available now a couple of times I'm a bit disappointed... Maybe they can still halt the Survivor Mode DLC and put some work into story DLC'ing, I'm sure lots of people would get it.

They'd probably have to finish off with Survivor Mode first cause of what they promised.
Veav Oct 10, 2014 @ 10:16am
heh, then non-season-pass DLC maybe? 'cos you know it's coming. Grumble.
