IGN's damage control video on their Alien isolation review

This is my opinion so feel free to agree\disagree

There's too much Wrong with this video

Firstly a discussion usually involves people who have differn't opinions and view points on a subject. All this video showed was that Ryan was a Shepard and all the others were sheep who basically said "yes Ryan we agree with you" the whole time as when I finished watching it, it seemed like he got a group of people to back him up also known as damage control

Secondly usually a discussion involves the participants having the same or almost equal knowledge of the topic. When Ryan asked them how long they were into the game the most one was into the game was 5 hour so he wanted to talk about things they didn't have complete or played which can affect the opinion of someone

Thirdly Ryan broke what many call the reviewers code by basing the review around his opinions and feelings towards the alien franchise rather then having the review on the game as well as getting terms wrong and using them incorrectly like "polarized"

Lastly he tried to make it out as if it was not his fault for the bad review
He said basically that playing on hard really ruined the game for him which is not surprising as its HARD MODE!! It's called hard mode for a reason

On the plus side I am glad they are going to do more review discussions, but only if they do it right


What are your thoughts and opinions on this "discussion"

And this isn't the only forum he's spamming on. He sprouts up on every major released game and spams for a day or 2 or 3 or so till he stops getting traction... then moves onto the next game forum to spam. Sadly doing this must work in getting suckers & idiots to scam... else he wouldn't be doing this all the time in every major release.

I'm also surprised you didn't recognize him from other game forums, where he spammed your threads with this trollop as well :P

Ow I remember quite clearly, he posted in one of my discussions 3 months ago this has been going on for months, I don't know if longer but since mid year he's been posting on most AAA forums with his spam
It does get annoying when you try to have a conversation and all he does is spam
What's worst is the mods keep perma banning him yet he keeps creating more accounts
A simple Ip ban will ensure he can never access steam to spam

I said usually, usually does not refer to rules I've made up about discussions it's logic, this was not a discussion

I think that games like this require certain personality types to appreciate. Some people have to shoot-shoot-shoot, kill-kill-kill in order to feel powerful and rewarded, and others want the satisfaction of avoiding conflict and overcoming the tension by circumventing environmental problems.

When I play games with great atmosphere like Bioshock Infinite, I find myself in love with the world and the story, but lamenting the reliance on FPS style action as the means of carrying the whole affair. I'd much rather sneak through that world, and wish more games gave you that option.

So far this game is the best thing I've played all year. I concede that it may get frustrating or problematic later, but I must say it's as strong of a first impression as I've ever had.

I remember when i wraped up amnesia for the first time feeling like the game was too short and at about the half way point it was too easy once the intial shock of the mechanics wore off...

Good thing it wasnt longer or tougher cause IGN woulda bashed it...Thats pretty much all i got from that vid...

He creates a panel full of people that havent finished the game lol...2 of those dudes admited to only being 2-4 hours in.....

In the review and the discusson they praise the game for it's atmosphere, Graphics and game mechanics, And are only really negative about the length and difficulty. I can think of so many games that have more negatives and scored much higher. What it comes down to is the game just wasn't for him and that's okay but IGN should realise that reviews matter a lot to some people and this review may not have been the most impartial.
