Does this game scare the crap out of you?
It does me! After being a kid growing up with series and now playing this game you have a special fear for this game. I recall just loving this series and thinking what if i was there and what would i do? Well i know...i would run and scream like a little girl till i found the nearest locker. This game is amazing! It recapture's everything terrifying i knew and loved about the Alien series :)

Yes. Yes it does. I've loved the series since childhood, but the Xenos have been a regular nightmare for me since then. Love this game; gives me the creeps, it's great.

Yep, so much so that I have to play in short bursts. I just got it and haven't been able to play longer than an hour at a time. Absolutely love it though, the atmostphere and sound is amazing.

I think we older movie fans probably appreciate it more than anybody else. The Xeno is the only movie monster that ever really scared me as a kid and still does! I can't get enough of the game.

yep. as much as i love the game i can only play it for half an hour or so before i freak out and have to turn it off. i've hardly made a dent in the DLC's because i can't play long enough to get a handle on them ,lol.

as much as i appreciate it as an action film, one thing i hated about Aliens was how it demystified the alien, turning it from an incomprehensible Lovecraftian nightmare horror into essentially a large bug.

this game makes the nightmare walk again :)

No, I don't ever play horror games but this still did not scare me. I don't know, I just started the game yesterday too. I don't know how it scares others, I'm really confused.

The game is to repetitive to achieve this for me. Especially the scripted alien AI.

There are very few scripted Xeno AI events.

I don't mean the scene-like or abviously scripted events. I mean the alien behavior. Please read the linked topic again.

That would be AIs... AI, not really a script.
(Although technically all software is scripted)
The two words mean different things in the land of software.

I feel anxious whenever I think about playing this game. I look at the "play" button on Steam and get a shiver down my spine. I'm in the medical sector in my first playthrough and it takes a lot of steam to even think about continuing my game. Off to play XCOM now, I think. Or Eurotruck Simulator 2 (that last one is very calming).

I'm having to play in one hour sessions as well, I play at night with headphoens and no lights except my monitor and the blue glow from my mouse and keybard.

I remember seeing Alien for the first time with my dad. I had one of those foot tall alien figures, I have no idea where it went, probably creeping thru some vents as I type this.

Scary games/movies only really work their magic if you let them. If you approach this game with an attitude that its never going to scare you, just running circles around the alien like its not a threat, then no it wont work at all. Many people make this mistake which completely ruins the experience for them. You have to completely immerse yourself and believe that you are the main character, believe and succumb to the situation and physics of the given environment/world. Truly believe you are in the shoes of the main character and the danger around you is very much real, only then will you be able to trick your mind and body into thinking your physical self is in a terrifying situation and your body will naturally adapt to this, activating fight or flight mode. Only then will it work its magic. So yeah put on a pair of headphones, turn off the lights and immerse yourself in this great experience.
