Did you turn off the Motion Blur, DoF and Chromatic Abberiation?
Not sure if I should on or off them. Blur and DoF are badly implemented in many games.

I always turn these off, but it sure is a matter of personal preference. I know that the goal is to simulate features of human vision itself, but IMO it falls kinda flat because I don't always focus on the point corresponding to the camera's viewpoint. I'm sure those features will be much more important in the future when we'll all wear Oculos Rift-like devices while gaming.
Not saying you're wrong btw, just mentioning that Chromatic Abberiation is not meant to simulate the human vision. Its to simulate the "70's" feel of the original Alien movie. The devs knew it'd be a love it or hate it thing so thankfully they did allow you to disable it.

However, I personally agree and think Motion Blue and DoF are not necessary, but eveyrone should try Chromatic Abberiation. At least in this game. The art style has been designed around having CA enabled and it adds to the whole 70's vibe.

Thats not to say CA is always a good thing. For some reason, Ding Light has CA and it makes litterally no sense in that game, so yeah turn it off there if you want. but Alien isolation has been desigened with CA in mind so at least give it a try!

Not really, the goal is to simulate looking through a camera lens, since the human eye doesn't experience depth of field or motion blur the way cameras lenses do.

I honestly can't see the difference with CA on or off. By rights, chromatic aberration shouldn't even be noticeable in the game, since even at its absolute worst in an image, purple fringing is only visible at the pixel level.

The way CA is implemented in this game is to simulate an 80's (boob-tube) television screen. They were just trying to create a genuine retro futuristic experience that would corroborate with the image and experience you saw when you were staring at your TV in the 80's. It works pretty in the game from that point of view and I would actually leave it on if it werent for one flaw; in this game with CA enabled, there is actually more pixel crawling and anti-aliaising is even more inaccurate because of that.

I leave all the fancy filters, DoF and motion blur on. It's about the atmosphere, not twitch reactions.

I think it looks more realistic with the blur, when you have the motion tracker, and then just right click while holding the motion tracker, to see in the distance.

Well, that's the thing. I tried leaving CA on, and I tried switching it off, and I can't see any difference. I do photography on the side, so I do know how it appears. I would love for some people to take a few snapshots just so I can see the difference.

I had to turn off chromatic abomination. It was giving me eye strain and making my head knot up. Turned it off and felt my eyes and forehead meltily relaxing.

Film grain was off instantly as soon as I spied it in the options :Finger2:

Also renamed a few files to turn off the pointless lens flares when holding a flare since I'm assuming Ripley Jr. doesn't have cameras for eyes :Finger2: :Finger2:
