Alien: Isolation

Alien: Isolation

Is Alien: Isolation canon?
Just wondering whether this game is an official part of the Alien universe, or whether, like AvP, it is just a spin off.

I hope they make Colonial Marins non-canon again and then chose to make this one canon.
Yes it's canon they based it all on Alien 1979. FOX the Alien owner gave them all the warehouse to use and gave them the ok on what they could put in.

It deserves to be canon. Not many other uses of the licence can say the same thing. I don't count Alien: Resurrection as canon, mind ;)
actually i don't see, why this should not be canon.
amanda was never part of the alien franchise, except for a statement in aliens.
and (it's not a spoiler) since we know amanda survives... (so as we know the titanic sank)
this might as well happened in those 15 years after the original movie

but i think it will be handled like those star wars Expanded Universe...

movies > games > books > comics

so everything that doesn't fit with the movies, just is non canon
I hope this ones canon! The only issue I have thus far is, well (Only five hours in) is this the same Xenomorph that was on the Nostromo? As it was put out into space via an airlock at the end of Alien... Also aren't WY colonizing LV-246 at this time and diliberatly putting the colonists near Facehuggers/Xenomorphs? Or was that just my interpritation of LV-246?
Hadleys hope is made a long time later. Where is the alien from? play it and find out.

Excuse me, but that was LV-426, not LV-246.

I'd go so far as to call the books a better source of canon stories, or i'd rather put it up higher than the games.

So far, Alien Isolation is the only newer Alien game that is good. AvP from '99 was good, AvP2 was decent, AvP 2010 is somewhat good and A:CM is plainly one of the worst games ever made.

The three alien novels though... Great bedside reading. (Out of the shadows, Sea of sorrows, River of pain)

Your questions will be answered - fear not. And, the WY colonizing of LV-426 happens much later in the timeline. It may be that this incident becomes one of the factors in the decision to colonize LV-426.

The game definitely is canon when it comes to the original film. It may not necessarily fit with canon as it evolved in later films.

As much as I like the game, I can't imagine the far superior Alien or even Prometheus existing in the same universe. The storytelling just isn't as good, mainly because it's a game. I think of this as more of an alternative Alien.
