[BUG] Flashlight Broken
Several users are reporting that the flashlight does not work immediately after picking it up for the first time. You are required to light the next room to find an access vent, which is rather troublesome, forcing you to use flares instead.

Even putting new batteries into it doesn't work; as it then begins to drain the new batteries but doesn't actually light anything up.

Once entering the vent however, the bug seems to correct itself and the flashlight works fine for the rest of the game.

I haven't run into it not working when I picked it up, but I did have it later after reloading a save.

Well the guy asks you to not forget some batteries. And game gives you a prompt of how to change em... Kids this days can't read.

Well I got my flashlight, loaded it with batteries, it wouldnt work so used flares to find the vent. Next area it worked fine in a quick test, but has never worked after. It has batteries, 5 of them, the bar is lit up green, meaning it's got charge, but wont work... I can press "Y" on my 360 controller all day and nothing... I'm not going to fight an Alien without a working flashlight damn it!!!! :)

Changing the batteries does nothing; the battery begins to drain but the flashlight does not turn on. It's a bug.

Try it on keybord. Gamepad controlls may be bugged. Wont be the first time.

Tried both KB+M and a 360 pad. It works perfectly fine after the room where you get the flashlight. Odd.

I just discovered this isn't a bug at all. Hold "F" for a while, and you will reload with your new batteries. Release F and then press again. Boom!

It doesn't always work, unfortunately.

I had the issue with the controller, but holding F on the keyboard did the trick.

Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that I think I've found a little workaround. For me, batteries weren't drained when I pushed the F key and also holding the F key would not work. So I remapped the key to something else (L for example) and then it worked, even if I switched it back to F later. However, after restarting the game it would not always work, so I needed to remap it again. Hope this helps someone.
