Totally stuck. Not far in. Please help.
I've just seen the ship fly past the window and now I've to try to communicate with it, but there's absolutely nowhere to go and the only lead I have is two panels require some sort of blowtorch. But I have no idea how to craft one.

What have I missed here?

Walking around like an idiot at the moment.

Head to the room with the bright light and save station, there's a panel in the floor in its centre.

In the cafe behind the bar there's a vent-hatch on the floor, open it. :)

Umm.. go up the stairs then go all the way to the other side, go down those stairs, go to the back of the hall, there's a power generator. Activate it go back out where you came from and there'll be a room that opened up where a bright blue light will emerge from.

Cheers folks, classic DOH moment. Thank you all.

To be fair it introduces the need for the Ion Torch in this section so it's reasonable to assume everyone will be looking for an Ion Torch in order to open those doors and progress.

A bit of bad planning perhaps!

Indeed! tbh I would have missed that panel a million times over as well. It wasn't especially obvious. To me anyway.

Also finding the 'autoequip' bug a little annoying, whereby if you hit Q to access your crafting menu, it automatically makes you carry the first thing you're on, and you can't holster it. Walking around with a medical vial or a flare at all times is a tad irritating.
