closet = godmode like in outlast?

Hi there,

so far the game sounds amazing!

Unscripted alien that searchs for you while having no way to kill it? EPIC

But after watching some trailers, i noticed that this game has closets where you can hide.

I realy HATE it in outlast cos it was like a godmode. you allways knew that enemys will just ignore the closets and just ignore it which was realy a big immersion breaker.

Anyone know if closets or other hidding places in alien: isolation just lowers the chance that it can find you or is it like outlast where you have 0% chance of beeing found when you hide in a closet?

If it sees you getting into the closet, you keep going to the same closet, or you dont hold your breath and stay quiet when it gets near it, You will die.

when youre in a closet and simply hold a button, youre 100% save even if the alien comes 10000 times. That realy sucks and kinda breaks it for me. The sooooo scary alien is now like a teddy bear cos i know that i could hide in a closet anytime and all that happens is that it will stare for some seconds on me :(

I watched the vid as well, the first time he used the locker the alien did no see or hear him, the second time the alien heard him go but did not see. Then he got killed and the demo reset. Then he used it once, left the area then got killed.

I don't see how you can call this GODMODE, yea Outlast had that, it was also a 15 dollar title but was still pretty good.


Apparently you did not read Basilius's post, also judging the game on ONE video if a big no no. You sound like you just wanted to flame the game. No the closet is not a GOD mode, you can still die. If you keep hiding in the same spot or make any noise while in the closest. It may save you a couple times but don't bet on anymore than that. You have to keep moving around and changing your tactics. Don't believe me then oh well your lose, do more research than just watching one video.

If you are just going to come in here and flame the game and not post anything reasonable to contribute then don't post at all, being a troll is not needed or wanted. Now, if you just don't like survival horror then don't buy and don't post here with you negative commentary because what you like and other people like is two different things.

I dunno if this helps but earlier in the year i played a demo of it and when i hid in the closet it actually saw me and heard me shut the and instantly killed me.

100% true whatever crazy guy is searching for you could find you even if you were hinding inside or under something. Although the Outlast AI could be questioned of how good it was the hiding was 100% effective since they can check whatever you were hiding in and when they found you, you did take damange.

Pretty sure outlast guy had a high chance of searching anything else in the room you weren't hiding in.

Yes, they can find you in closets in outlast, I know they did with me

With the whole press the button thing
While you hold your breath you are unable to use any technology
Same goes to using technology, if the alien hears you using it, it will come and get you

Alien Isolation does not have God mode lockers as I have played the game all my life, I have died so many times in the locker even without being spotted by the Alien or the Alien knowing I was there, it is quite possible for the alien to know your there. It is just not all the time and it depends on the difficulty, like how in nightmare lockers are a death trap, in easy you can basically hide in one whenever you want. I have also died in other hiding spots.

First off, holy ten-year bump!

If the Alien kills you in a locker, it's because you made a mistake. These are the only scenarios in which you'll get killed in a locker:

• It saw you enter the locker.
  
• It inspected the locker and you didn't hold your breath properly.
  
• The game won't let you kill yourself from holding breath damage so it forces you to stop holding your breath automatically when you no longer have enough life left. Never go into a locker without at least 40% of your health left, or you're doomed if the alien chooses to inspect the locker you're in.
  
• You used the motion tracker when it was very close to the locker.
  
• You went into a locker near a group of unarmed humans. They all stare at the locker you went into and if the alien comes along and kills them, it then wants to know what they were all looking at and tears open the locker.

That's not to say that lockers are good hiding places, they're generally a bad place to hide as holding your breath causes damage and most players, myself included, won't use them.

Never heard of using lockers being described as easy mode before... Most seasoned players generally regard them as death traps, with other hiding spots being preferred, although they can be good as a last resort.
