Desperately need tips. Mission 17 - Spoilers.

I've just gone past Ricardo's dead body and gone right. I'm at the top of the big stairwell that you need to go down and then head around that left bend with all the security soldiers.

I am completely stuck. I have 37 flamer fuel and 3 molotovs. I get about halfway and the Alien drops down (same spot every single time, 20 retries) so I hide down the little engineering gaps along the side and wait for him to walk past but then soldiers start shooting at the wall where I am. They get killed by the Alien. I start continuing on and then suddenly the Alien just runs down in to my path and knows exactly where I am, without fail. No noise, crouched, nothing out in my hands apart from my flamethrower (equipped not aiming) and I die.

I actually cannot see a way around this part of the level. It's near impossible with the Alien dropping down in the exact same spot (even though through level 1 to 16 it was random.)

Any ideas how I'm supposed to avoid it? There's zero hiding spots, only stuff behind guard rails etc.

37 units of fuel and 3 molotovs is enough to fight the alien four times so I don't understand how you should be having difficulties there.

Fire isn't doing anything to him anymore. I burn him once, good, he's gone but he immediately drops down. There's no cover for me here. I can't hide from him at all. He knows where I am without fail.

Tell you the truth the game has been an absolute breeze yet this part seems near enough impossible.

The part where you've gotta head back towards getting a landing area for the torrens. The downstairs part is all on fire and full of security and the Alien is running about. I can't do it. I've just tried everything and even found a vent and went round that way. Alien still knows where I am and I've not even been seen or thrown anything.

What's really pissing me off is this part is more simpler than the last 16 levels I've just done... Yet this is just ridiculous. I've died over 50 times now.

This is Mission 16, btw, not 17 (which is a lot harder).

I didn't have to deal with any humans in that section because I had the android kill them on my way up. But still it shouldn't be difficult to have the alien kill them and just proceed toward the objective, which is only three hallways away.

Nvm. You're talking about Mission 16, just stalked checked your achievements.
Got confused cus you said 17.

Once you go down the stairs let the patrolling guy move away, then there should be an emergency exit panel. Use the torch and it unlocks a safe shortcut.
The only tricky area should be the "command centre" since it's kind of open but aside from that it's a short way back to the elevator

That's where I am right now, when I go round the back of it and back in to the room with two desks, you come up to a locked door infront of you which you can take another vent or go left out a door and in to the burning hallway. The alien just instantly knows I'm in that part. It's too enclosed to throw a molotov at it. I followed the vent all the way as far as I could but the Alien just hangs around outside then climbs in with me without warning. (tried 5 times)

I had to use it against aliens only once there, when I got cornered by two of them near the second conduit.

Once you come down the stairs and see one of the security guards, just find a safe place to hide and throw literally any craftable item you have at him. That should bring the Alien down and have him clear the Seegson security guys for you. Once they are taken care of, simply outmanuver the Alien and you're done with the mission.

This is why you kill/get rid of those guys when you first see them on your way to adjust the radio comm array after getting out of Anesidora. There is a killer android locked in one of the rooms that you can release that will murder them (you need to hack a computer for that in a small warehouse room on that floor) :)

Your best bet is to somehow drive the alien to eat them and if anything else fails, hide in a closet until it calms down a bit. Just remember to hold your breath...
