Had any nightmares after playing this game?
After playing for about 40 hours I finally had a nightmare triggered by this game. In it I heard the alien hiss from inside my house and immediately looked for a place to hide. I figured the best place was behind my sofa - the sofa is against a wall, so I pulled it forward slightly and jumped behind and got under a blanket. I could hear it in the room with me and then everything went quiet, so I looked out from under the blanket and it was right in front of my face, like it is in the game when it sees you and grabs you, just before its mouth comes out and you die.

That's when I woke up and thought "5am is a little early for me, but I'm not going back to sleep and risking that nightmare again".

I first watched Alien when I was about 6, so naturally the alien is my ultimate scary creature and has terrorized me ever since.

I remain eternally grateful that i have never had a nightmare about Alien. I saw it at a similar age. my brother put it on for me and told me he made it. lol
The 'perfect organism' distills the deepest depths of horror for me. on screen or in game.
The original avp scared the tits of me back in the day. even godawful games like colonial marines still made me sweat.
I think if i dreamt about a Xeno it would scar me for life!

One night, I dreamed that it kept dropping through the ceiling of my room while I slept. Twice it did that and I woke up in a cold sweat. On the third time, I didn't wake up - I yelled "Go away Stan, I'm trying to sleep." And the alien went away. Because the alien is apparently the true identity of the mysterious "Stan" that John Green yells at on Crash Course World History. Stan slunk away, and then John Green told me all about how street people are the ones who've really shaped history.

Plenty actually. I had a few after playing the game initially and had to stop because the game was too scary for me ( I did come back to man up and finish it, glad I did!).

The weird part is, I'm totally used to horror games. I played (and mostly beat) all of Penumbra, Cry of Fear, Amnesia and Outlast just fine. Horror themed shooters like Doom 3 or Dead Space I can play without breaking a sweat.

I also played plenty of Aliens VS Predator games and have plenty of Xenomorph action figures and seen the Alien movies countless of times.

On other words, this is one nasty bugger of an alien that I'm very familiar with.

Yet, somehow this game gripped me real good. After watching ALIENS the other night, I immediately had a double-whammy of a nightmare. I dreamt I was Hudson and somehow made it back on the Sulaco. Except this time, I was hunted by not just the Queen alien but also the drone from this game. Game over indeed.

And another one last night. This one I truly have no idea WTH its meaning was though. I dreamt I was on some sort of ship (in the sea, not in space) but somehow a bunch of Xenomorphs showed up killing everyone on it.

The thing that ties all of these nightmares together is that the alien always looks JUST LIKE in Alien Isolation. Like it escaped the game and went straight into my mind.

I hear Ridley Scott is of the opinion that the Xenomorph is no longer scary. I wish I could share with him what I've seen in my dreams, it oughta convince him otherwise...

NEWSFLASH RIDLEY! This thing is still scary as hell almost 40 years after the first movie! Oh and FYI, your precious Prometheus did not trigger a single nightmare!

Two.

In one I was only in my underwear on a space station, being hunted. Maybe I thought I would be quieter naked. It was partly inspired by a picture I saw of a naked Amanda Ripley hiding from the alien.

In the other I was fleeing from an alien with my mother and we were separated. Shortly before that we considered hiding with a group of people, but I said to her that they were all going to die.

^Still, I kind of get where Scott is coming from. It was nice to see some new creatures in Prometheus.

I kept having dreams about there being more than one alien on the ship (#SPOILER ALERT!) before the reveal. The first dream I was hiding in the medbay from the stalking Alien. It passed by me and I could see it still going down the hall. As soon as I turned my head I saw another one right infront of me and it killed me. The next night I dreamed that I was running up a staircase away from the Alien and I turned around and shot it with my gun, It was momentarily stunned to my relief. BUUUT Another Alien came barreling in right behind the stunned one. I knocked it away and managed to run a little before I woke up. The third night there were no Aliens because that was the day that (Spoiler) the Alien died. But Billy Dee Williams warned me that there were more in the heart of the ship. And sure enough There was a hive full of em. My dreams warned me before the game even gave a hint.

Maybe, but his new creatures were just variations of the facehugger. They will be forgotten in a few years, while I'm convinced the Xenomorph will be remembered for decades. Something about the design that just works and begs to be explored further. And the deacon? Pointless fan service that I doubt will be referenced again.

I mean no disrespect to the guy. It was his movies after and its his call what to do with them. I just say that I don't agree with the statement about the Xenomorph being obsolete because of what it is.

The reason the creature lost popularity (IMO) was because anything after Aliens kinda sucked. Alien 3 was alright, but made a HUGE mistake in killing 2 main characters right off the bat and wasting all that character development that Aliens had established. Resurrection is crap and beyond fancy visuals, it has nothing to offer and no reason to exist.

AVP I don't count, its its own series. They weren't exactly great either though.

Maybe the upcoming fifth installment can redeem everything after Aliens and put the Xenomorph closer to horror movie fame again.

Until then, I keep my fingers crossed for another sequel to Isolation. Who knows? It might just happen.

I've had plenty of alien-themed dreams since I started playing the game in May. Of course, I've always had alien-themed dreams, but since Isolation I've had about ten of them, which is a lot in such a short time. I wouldn't call them nightmares though even though they're scary; they almost never make me wake up and I kinda look forward to these dreams.

I've had a few dreams about Aliens, I suppose they were scary in that they were detailed and felt real while I was in the dream but I never woke up and I wasn't disturbed by them... that kind of dream that you wake up and think that was a cool dream. :) I had a lot of nightmares about aliens when I was a kid though so I'm probably all nightmared out. :)
