There is autosave, whenever you take the transit it saves your progress.

What I dont get is how I can manually save right before using transit, use the transit, wait for auto save to complete, quit the game, and have my most recent save be the save BEFORE the first save I even mentioned (so I have to cross an entire map to get to where the first of the two saves in this scenario was).

That"s weird, normally if the game saves, it well...saves. It should at least load your manual save.

I never had this happen to me i think.

Also i want to mention, i said the game autosaves whenever you take the transit, however:

There are a few times when the game does not save your progress while in transit. I just completed another run and i noticed this. Look for the tape cassette icon in the top right corner, if it appears, the game is saving.


Also the game will autosave after major events or cutscenes.

Are you sure you are not picking:

load game > load previous save?

There are 3 options. First one looks like start over from the beginning (a very Playstation 1 move having that be highlighted by default when there are saves present). Second one looks like it should be along the lines of "continue where you left off" (which is the one I use). Third one looks like it is dedicated to old saves.

In the load game menu there is:

Load Current Save > this will load your last save
Load Previous Save > this will load the save BEFORE your last save
Load Mission Save > this will load one of your saves when you entered that specific mission you chose

You can also pick the "Continue Game" option right above "Load Game" option, that will also load your last save

I'm not sure if the "Continue Game" option will remember your auto saves though, i never really payed attention to that, it could be that it only will load your last MANUAL save.

It could be that the auto saves only will load after you die and you want to continue, NOT when you want to load a save after you quit the game and return to it...

I always quit right after a manual save.
