Can you kill the alien?

I'm watching a let's play of this game and the player just found the revolver, now I've never seeen the movies so I'm curious will this provide any defense? He already got the face tongue to the face so I know this isn't just a cut scene type thing. Can you kill an alien with a revolver or anything else you might find on this crappy station?

Oh god, the guy just made it to medical... he was creeping around in this room ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ himself in a locker while it walked past, after five minutes he works up the courage to leave... than creeps out the room

You can't. Revolver won't do anything at all. Shotgun can stop the alien when he's running at you, in close encounters it can even save your life and make him go into the vents. Flamethrower will make him go away and come back later, but more pіssed off this time, also the alien will learn and won't attack you while you aiming the flamethrower at him. I believe the most effective is molotov - the alien will go into the vents for longer and in some cases won't even come back, but will try to ambush you instead.

You can't, the revolver won't do anything to him - it's only for humans and androids. But, the alien is SCARED of fire. Think of ways how to do it, but soon there will be a direct way to make some fire...

I was watching Paul's Ego play this too - inspired me to finally finish the game.

The flamethrower is a freaking life saver. The other weapons, not so much.

I think I might have had a chance once. I was hiding inside a cabinet. After a while I could not hear it anymore, and got out of the cabinet. It was stuck between the cabinet and the wall.

Unfortunately I did not think to open up on it, because I froze. If I had fired I could have found out how much damage it could take. Anyway after about five or ten seconds it worked itself loose and killed me. I can't remember how long it was stuck, because I was a rabbit in the headlights, and watched it. (Also I didn't shoot because it didin't act all hissy and aggresive. It was just moving to try get free.) I worked out that I could have got a good few rounds off.

However I did notice that it bears the scars of you shooting it. Once I hit it's leg. Later I was hiding under a table when it walk past me. I saw the damage/or/scar where I remembered I had hit it.
