does anyone even remember Aliens versus Predator extinction?
that was actually a fairly decent branch off for the ALiens and predator franchise, why couldn't they have got relic or creative assembly to make a sequel to that with actual multiplayer.

AVP extinction was an RTS game set in the AVP universe for those who do not know this it was single-player only sadly and had no skirmish but the factions actually suited themselves.

no, is it on steam?

It was an XBox-Only game, unfortunately. Is it possible to emulate the Xbox and play it on PC, I wonder? I never tried it.

i still dunno why sega won't fun that, i mean come on an RTS with base-building and stuff but set in the AVP or just aliens universe where one side uses the others for resources? while the other side has to say, secure resource nodes? it'd be a great asymmetrical game.

No its not possible due to the sectoring of the table system used on xbox games. not possible yet at least.....

Oooh, crap, EA's the publisher of Extinction.
Meh... Extinction was ok. It was so simple, anyone who grew up on PC RTS games basicly had the mechanics and concepts mastered in a solid 15 minutes. Like most RTS games built for console, it hardly felt like there was any real strategy involved. Let alone base, resource and troop management.

Aliens Vs. Predator in RTS fashion is brilliant. Making it a console game that a 5 year old can learn on a Friday night is just wasted potential.

I remember it. The only problem i had was why the hell it wasn't on PC. When i learned that CA was making a new alien game i though it was gonna be total war, but with aliens and i was really hyped on that idea, but it seems we get is a survival horror game. Lets see is they can make a decent game. ( best alien games in order are: 1. Alien Trilogy, 2. Alien Resurrection, 3. AVP2, 4. AVP, 5.AVPE, 6. AVP(3) 7. Alien3, 8. AVP(Jaguar) 9. AVPR, and last 10. ACM)

There is only one working Xbox emulator on the PC, and it can only play Halo at about 15 fps..

AVP: Extinction is actually really good, if you ignore the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendous pathing which puts The PAthing of a custom-made Unreal Tournament level to shame. A custom level that has no ai paths, causing bots to just roam around the spawn or run in place.

How so? Play the 2nd last Marine campaign mission, and you'll f**king know EXACTLY what I mean. xD. Going through small areas, some guys go the opposite direction, even if they can go in the direction you order them, and they don't stop until you select each unit singularily or a couple units at a time. It really makes it hell when you need to plant a damn bomb. I've never beaten that mission, purely because AI pathing in small corridoors with marines just...

It's the worst I've ever played.

But AVP: Extinction, even with the ass-backwards AI pathing, was really fun and honestly... a game I'd play over and over and perfect it, if it were on Steam. If it also had achievements, and just as many as there could be like Beat a mission using only Unupgraded Disc Masters, or have 4 Ravagers at one time, or maybe even purchase 5 sentry guns with just 3 guys left alive.

I've actually beaten a couple missions on hard with unupgraded disc masters though.... Hard as hell, but it's possible, and damn funny and fun :)

The AI Pathing is literally the only drawback to that game in my opinion.

Well, you can always hope for a modder with time on their hands and some skilled, reliable friends.

I really liked that game!
Sad to see it never got a pc counterpart, or another avp rts with better mechanics.
Not Your Heroes Jul 10, 2014 @ 6:28am
yeah we need a proper sequel or another AVP RTS with real complex mechanics, tbf i'd kinda love them to take the COH/dow2 combat style of tactical. but combine it with the games that have base-building and each side playing uniquely. like aliens using a queen and a hive, preds with dropping troops off and maybe a shrine or have a landed spaceship that can be used to spawn units and have multiple rooms. The marines could maybe set up a base, with buildings that can be entered and allow them to fight.

I think I remember having this on PS2, was actually good fun if like others have said a tad easy.

Would love to see it on Steam some day..
