Is there Meaning to the Tail?

I have a hand full of completed sessions of the game, some on PC most on Xbox. But on my current session I noticed the alien changes the behavior of its tail depending on the situation. It either has it in the air or its dragging it on the floor. Maybe indications of Active or Passive modes? Combat or Search modes? Could this be a subtle indication to the player on how to proceed? Thoughts?

I understand the lore of the Xenomorph, but my question is in regards to the game Isolation. Or am I reading too much into it? LOL

I assume it's something like that, but I don't know exactly what.

I feel like it's safe to say that tail down is at worst no worse than tail up.
