i died but i didn't quit to main menu ... should i load to save or just alt+f4 ?

If you're about to die, reload the last checkpoint BEFORE you see the reload death screen. If you see that, the game has already flagged it on that save and you'll have to start all over from the beginning. Word of caution; Facehuggers are unique in that they kill you very fast and the death scene can prevent you from accessing the menu to reload. Be extra vigilant around them because they can end your run faster than anything else in the game. If you're not familiar with where they'll show up, I'd suggest looking at a guide so that you won't be caught unaware.
