BTW, when you first make contact with other people it can be a bit clunky but don't give up. You just need to be stealthy or figure out a way to kill them with out them all shooting you at once. Be resourceful with distractions.
Have fun :)
if walking around in the space station that has alien onboard, is not scary and thrilling to you .. then i don't know what is.
this is definetely one of the all time best horror games ever made! i re-installed it yesterday, cuz i felt like playing thru it again. i like the entire environment and immersion, even the save points are so well done, keeps you in suspense, not knowing if you have time to save or get eaten by alien.
personally i'd like it to be more open world, but it's still amazing. in some areas alien is always active and you have to be careful on every step. make too much noise and alien pops down from the vent.
once you get motion tracker, it becomes even more suspense and scarier, seeing that movement, but at same time not seeing anything .. not knowing if you should go towards your objective .. where you also saw the movement, or try to find another way?
every game could be better, but it's definetely one of the best horror games ever made! even in 2024 graphics still look amazing. lot of modern games have worse graphics and run like trash. i run this in native 4k maxed out on GTX 1080 and GPU usage is only 50% or below. not only it has decent graphics, it's so well optimized .. like most games back in those days.
Attention, don't watch the videos if you don't want to come across any spoilers

This is the ultimate game for Alien fans. If you are finding it boring I'd suggest Fireteam Elite if you haven't played that one.
My friend, You've only played 108 minutes. You haven't even gotten into the car, yet, much less made it to the intended destination. Get in the car, put on your seat-belt, and enjoy the ride.... because ....you're not headed to Disneyland...but rather Sevastopol Station... Still, you still haven't gotten to the "destination" much less actually begun to explore and experience what is Alien Isolation. Like going to Disneyland, when you get to Sevastopol, you'll wander around for a little while and start to "experience" the place. Then you'll get on your first "ride" ...which will be minor... but each new "ride" will become bigger... better... faster... more thrilling.... and yet there's so much more to experience.
As others have noted, this is one of the highest rated games of all time. Yes, it takes some time to "build up" but that "Build up" adds soooo much more to your experience later, and the game would just not be as good if chapter one started with the same intensity as chapter 10.... or 15 .... or 20....
Alien Isolation was designed to be close in build to the original ALIEN film... which starts off slow and boring and monotonous... gets slightly ... SLIGHTLY more interesting... then much more interesting but still kinda low key... and then KANE wakes up and wants to eat something before they go back into hyper-sleep.... and that kicks the film into what really launched to ALIEN Franchise into what it is ... same is true for Alien Isolation.
So... Keep going! There's so much more to come, and you're barely even starting.
... oh! ...
....and BEWARE the....
well....
just "BEWARE."
...please let us know of your progress.. or at least what you think once you're done.... if you make it that far (tee-hee) and don't chicken out!
But you'll know when it really gets started.
So, based on that. Nope. The majority of people road the hype train. Gave it high ratings and couldn't even complete more than a 3rd of the game.
So, since the numbers don't lie. The people certainly are.
And what happens when you just follow the masses can be seen in the last few games from the really big AAA studios. It's basically Game Pass content for casuals, who you hold the hand of and give the best rewards right from the start for nothing - Play it for 3-4 hours and you are imba af.
@OP: I recommend to play the game without ingame music. Much more atmo.
Just to give some perspective on your post: around 52% of people completed Portal according to Steam achievments official figures, which don't lie, contrary to people (35% for Portal 2). And Portal is only a couple hours long. So I'd be very cautious with the "not many % people complete the game, hence it is bad/boring/overhyped" point.
(Except if I misunderstood your point or if you consider Portal/Portal2 is a bad/boring/overhyped game indeed, in which case please accept my apologies.
