Has anyone made a Quick Save MOD yet?
I only managed to get about 90mins into this game but got really bogged down by the fact that I had to constantly replay 5-10mins of a level just to get back to where I died... only to die again. The game, in my opinion, could have used more checkpoints or of course a quick save feature to make it more enjoyable for people who just want to experiance the story without snapping their keyboard in two.

That being said... is there a MOD thats impliments this feature? It could seriously breing me back to the game and make me play all the way through.

I was playing on easy, but still found it difficult to really understand how to avoid absolute death. Which is a bummer because visually the game is fantastic, and the sound design is just top. But constant deaths made my initial feeling of dread turn to repeditive frustration as i had to replay areas constantly. For me the tension would not be lost because I get tention via the atmosphere of the game. The alien is indeed a scary mofo and I would get chills just seeing him pop out of the shadows. but all that fear turns to a bucket of "...ok here we go again" when I have to watch the same cutscene over and over again. Lack of a quicksave and the way the game saves now actually hurt my experiance. I have to admit, im not a hard core bastard, im a filthy casual that sometimes just likes to grab a controller and enjoy a good experiance without the need to snap my screen over my knee. This game totally has that experiance im looking for, i just like being able to retain a sense of progression. If I could just save before entering every room id still be able to play the game and fear the ♥♥♥♥ out of it but at least i know id get to the end at some point.
Honestly by the time i ran into my first synthetics i think i died enough times that i just gently put the controller down and uninstalled. All immersionwas gone aand i was already getting that "this is going to be a real slog" feelin... I definitely feel like i didn't give it a fair shake but... Im 25...ive been playing games since Parapa The Rappa on PS1... You'd think id know how to play a video game... Lol i surprise even myself sometimes....

Immersion is key!

Move slowly, peek around corners when fighting androids, use the motion tracker to help decide when it's a good time to move.

I suspect your frustration is coming from the place where those 4 people are looking for you, when the woman shouts "Guys, someone's here!"

I died like 10 times here too. But all you really need to do is throw a flare downstairs, creep around the back upstairs (through that little room that looks like a break room with tables and magazines) and then run through the door. Takes like 20 seconds. But the game doesn't hold your hand with this stuff, it just kind of throws you right in at the deep end.

I know that its really frustrating when the only reason you are stressed is because you dont want to re-do the level, but the spaced out save points really make the game good. I would just say to move slowly and quietly, use the motion tracker, access rewire points, and craft a lot of noise makers! They help so much to distract enemies so you can get to where you need to go. It does get easier when you learn how to deal with the alien, just dont forget to use the items you craft and the motion tracker, those things are what help me the most. Distractions are really important. Flares work great with androids and humans and noise makers are really helpful with the alien.

I don't think such mod is possible.

Not to sound like a douche, but there are plenty of save stations around to help you NOT having to play over an entire level again.

Other than that, if you die the same place more than once, you're doing something wrong.

Observe what the people/androids are doing, and remember that throwing flares can make them oblivious to your prescence for a few seconds.

The Alien is a bit more tricky to fool, and throwing flares will just make it less and less interested in them, the same goes with noise makers.
Flashbangs and pipe bombs doesnt work on it from my experience. You need either the molotov cocktails or the flamethrower to scare it away, and you sure as heck dont get those the first 90 minutes of the story.

Dont crouch walk either, just walk regularly. Crouch walking doesnt do you any good in hallways unless you're hiding behind something, or moving behind something to crawl under or something like that.

And dont be afraid to go back to a previous save station if your map says the next one is relatively "far" away.

I died a lot the first time i played the game, especially in the Med-bay and later on despite having both the flamethrower and molotovs.
I stuck with it and learned a lot from each death.

It also struck me how easily a moment of being an idiot/not paying attention can get you killed.

In short, try the game again, but try to learn the movement behaviour of each enemy type.
Humans and andriods are very similar, and the alien is something else entirely.

And remember this:
If you can se the enemys face/head, they can see you as well, no matter how dark it is.
That was the biggest realization i made in my first playthrough, namely that darkness doesnt hide you at all.

Pipe bombs have the same effect as molotovs. A direct hit will scare it away.

The biggest tip is to never sprint unless you know the alien won't be around to hear it (like the big space terminal lobby at the beginning of the game) Sprinting is the biggest noisemaker and the alien gets very aggressive if you sprint around. Just walk normally. If you hear footsteps or see it clambering out of a vent, hide. It's that simple.

It gets a little easier once you get the flamethrower, as then you'll have a way to chase it away if it pops up in front of you.

I honestly never bothered with the pipe bombs, simply because they're explosives.
That coupled with i could never get the timing right when throwing them, i just made the Alien more angry with me.

I actually cheated a bit, cos I found it too scary/difficult: I had my iPad next to me while playing on PC, I had IGN's walkthrough on it so I could see what the hell I needed to do next...saved my life more than a few times. Yes it spoilt the surprises too, but it also meant I avoided dying in the same place over & over.

To know what exactly to do and where to go is a very big advantage which never should be underestimated. It saves a lot of time, guarantees quick progress and takes probably away more than half of the difficulty. A second playthrough will always be much easier.

Great! :) That's exactly where I gave up on the day the game got released.

For some reason the brainwashed console newbies don't seem to be answering the question but just talk about something else that was not asked. So I will answer it: not at the moment and, sadly not likely. Personally I would just refund if you can and let the brainwashed newbies continue to 'justify' something which we hate and insult those who disagree with them and their predetermined 'opinions'.
