The topic of my discussion is million miles away from the difficulty lvl. I am totally aware of the likes of you, who are obsessed with few games and linger in the discussion forum, ready to lash out at anyone who says something bad... It's like the end of the world for you guys if someone says negative about the game you like. Your achievements in the game says enough about you. So don't even think of replying to this post.
And I am totally aware of the likes of you, scrubs who blame "design" for their own failures.
The save system is put in because it brings more tension and fear about dying. The only moments it annoyed me was after dying because i was playing too reckless.
I never noticed Amanda moving "slow", even after she falls a few meters down at the very start of the game, and while carrying a ton of stuff and weapons during 95% of the time, i find her to be sprinting quite well.
The arguement about the alien being very aware of noise is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a highly intelligent "perfect organism". If you are going to run and throw bombs around, shooting guns at everything that moves, obviously you are going to attract some attention.

And OP clearly forgot to research the game as well...
Allow me to quote a rather fitting comment:
I kinda feel you, honestly what has kept me from playing much is the save system. But it is difficulty, not a design flaw.
Really??? Let me remind you that there is only one alien at the station and no matter how intelligent that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ alien is, he can't be present at every corner of the station waiting for me to make some noise (before it gets ejected in to the space)... but that doesn't stop him for popping out of nowhere.
And for the record, I don't throw bombs or shoot guns at everything that moves, only when someone shoots at me. Don't just make an assumption about anyone, you haven't seen me play.
Trust me, this game is not worth your time... you will always find better games than this one. I, on the other hand, just have to finish it because I am already halfway through. And when I am done, I am not just uninstalling it, I will hide this game in my library forever.
I have seen the alien jump on me so many times that it is not terrifying anymore... what bothers me the most is that I have to waste more time on it.
Let me remind you that you are wrong
I am pretty sure that before the level 12-13 (at 60%), there was only one alien.... I haven't progressed any further.
They key thing to remember here is that the people on the station THINK there is only one alien on board. As does the player. Then we find out there is a whole nest and potentially hundreds of them.
This means that even at the start, it's possible there is more than one alien on the hunt. We just never see more than one at a time until the game gets more difficult toward the end.
As for op you can only blame yourself for not researching what this game is like before buying the game, the save points in this game are much like in the older resident evil games in that you need to use them sparingly, i for one use each save point only once and move on. When enemies shoot at me which you also mentioned i don't shoot them back i instead go hide from them and wait for the alien to pick them off for me and then sneak past it, i only sprint if it is the last option
