Find Morley's Keycard
My least favorite part of the game. Been playing since my Xbox 360 days and nothing has a higher chance of ending my playthrough early than this.

I've got it mostly down to a science now. Go to Morley's office, get the code, sprint past the Alien while it's stuck in its idle animation, put in the code, walk to the office with the pipe bomb blueprint, throw a noisemaker in the corner and walk to A-29.

This is where I get stuck. I now have Morley's keycard, but the Alien simply won't go away. Obviously throwing a noisemaker in the direction opposite where I need to go would work best, but I have to stand out in the hall to do so or else it'll bounce off the doorframe and attract the Alien; not like I have the chance to do that anyway, as he's patrolling right outside the door and never has his back turned long enough.

There IS a rewire station in the room, which can activate alarms in the room across the hall; I tried that and nothing happened.

I would really like to move on, so if anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Some parts are boring when it gets stubborn and just won't leave but I'd sit there in the hiding spot while I read stuff on my phone and he eventually goes away and you can start moving. Also found out yeah don't run at all. If you run that pisses it off the same level as shooting it and it takes em forever to quit hunting you. If he's 0.7 distance away or further on the scanner stand up and walk the other direction and keep him behind you and you're good. But if he's anywhere on the level you're on don't at all run lol it's instant death or be prepared to hide for a long long time.

The Alien has an idle animation when it first comes out of the vent in San Cristobal. It doesn't respond to any sound during this period giving you about five seconds to run past him and put the code into the door. Then you walk from there out.

Are you sure it's okay to hide for that long? Everything I've seen so far says that the Alien's patrols get tighter when you stay in one spot for too long.

Pretty sure the running counts against you still, he still hears it and doesn't start sensing what you're doing when he starts being able to move so by running you're triggering it and when he's able to move he's really hunting instead of just looking around. You can hide in 1 spot till he goes away yes. If you leave your hiding spot after it quits looking for you run around in a circle then go hide in that spot again it'll find you though. Just don't use the same spot twice.

Hmm. He's always taken a while to get to me when I run during that part. Guess it doesn't really matter now, as I got past Mission 5 the moment I posted this.

Just a bit further than this, in Mission 6, is where I'm strongly considering bailing on this thing. Was streaming/recording a video, and as I'm sitting in a locker, the bloody thing comes in, I get a prompt to hold my breath, and 2 seconds later (just as I hit the button), door is ripped off and I'm dead. I got really peeved playing the 5th mission, but this may be the last straw for me. Not because I can't do it, but I just don't want to... Shame too, because I was digging it up to that point...

If it's your first playthrough I'd just lower the difficulty cause the alien can just be downright annoying sometimes following around all through the vents everywhere you go waiting for you to knock something over or stand up.

You're slowing down unnecessarily. Simply keep running direct to A-29 after you enter the 1702 code, and when you grab the keycard you even have time to run to the keycard door. You can stop running just before you reach Kuhlman.

just enjoy the game on normal difficulty. go slow, thats the whole point, not to "cheat" during the quicktime event when the alien appears from the vent for the first time. I usually enjoy opening all doors and exploring all rooms before moving on.

Relax, have fun, the level is not on a timer.

This is the answer, I was playing on hard and just crouched, keeping my eye on the nearest hiding spot I can reach for when the alien makes his rounds near me again. After that I saved a noisemaker to cover my escape while I took one of the wall vents that leads back to kuhlman.

You can't rush it, just wait for when the alien leaves you alone, then make some progress, then hide when the alien gets close, repeat. Maybe it's coward strats but I also almost always had my motion scanner out so I was ready for when and where the alien was coming from, and that helped a lot.

Now I'm back at Seegson Communications and the Alien won't leave. Literally dreading the Corridor of Death right now.

I FINALLY BEAT IT. I have done nothing but play this all day.

Now you just need the "one shot" achievement for completing the whole game without dying :lunar2019grinningpig:

if you play on hard or less, its ok to wait as long as you want to, except for some bad spots. San-Cristobal is the only level in my opinion that is easier to walk than crouch, especially the first section, before you get to the intense therapy rooms
