It's honestly not that bad. It's just a case of knowing how the game works. In my last playthrough (several years ago now) I played on nightmare difficulty with only 1 death - when I thought I was holding a noisemaker in my hand and threw it at my feet, only for it to explode because it was actually a pipe bomb.
For example, the bit with the hack tool you couldn't get past on hard, there's a very easy trick. After you pick it up you quickly go up the same stairs the woman ran up when she shouts "someone's here! someone's here!" and hide behind the boxes at the top. When the three humans walk down the stairs you simply check that the final guy at the end of the hall isn't looking in your direction and... literally just walk past him.
Thanks for your response as always Dayve. And all the helpful posts you have written over the past several years since I purchased this game.
I know I want to try play through the storyline again. Yea that hack tool part really had me stuck for quite some time. I had even taken a break from the game for awhile cause I just was completely stuck there. But watched some videos on the encounter and got through it.
However, what I was speaking of in my first post were the other game play options. Where you can pick from a variety of npc's you encounter from the story and try to complete a few objectives and you get scored on your completion and timing. One I think was "The Basement". Another was "Severance"? Not sure. Then there is a game where you have like 2 hours to run through a bunch of different activities. You can pick from 2 at each stage.
Anyhow was just curious about those difficulties. Think the game mode was like the last one on the list. After the DLC listings.
Anyhow, thanks for your response as always.
Ah I see, the DLC's.
There is no difficulty setting for them. They're set to hard I believe. Even if you change your difficulty to easy you'll still be playing the DLC's on hard.
Also they're a lot harder than the story, but it's still the same game - the same tricks to survive still work in the DLC's. The alien still behaves the same, but it's a lot more aggressive.
