How did the Alien get on the ship

Hi all I don't think I ever found out how the alien ended up on the ship! I must not have being paying attention at the time it was explained... I love this game but find it horrifying and stressful in a fun way and paying attention is sometime difficult.

So going back how did the Alien get on board that ship? If ripely said "she had to blow up the ship because they had to make sure they it was killed" what happend obviously something went wrong because it's now on my ship :)

Also it's hard to read the computers when that alien is jumping out of vents with ur back turned
