As a amateur game mapper myself I just have to say, maps of any size can be made with the game's assets. Models, textures and set pieces could all be recycled as they were in the game itself. This is not impossible to accomplish. We got DLC maps after the game released due to the devs reusing much from the core game's content, but in new ways.
If a multiplayer DLC did magically come out, then you don't have to buy it or play it.
Perhaps some could try to use a fraction of their imagination in a possitive way and rather then trying to find reasons why this could or should never happen. Imagine how it could be awesome. Now this isn't directed at any one specifically... I'm just sayin.
Anyways, There's no point arguing about it since I'm sure those involved with the game have moved on to other projects. Sad too, because I think we all can agree that this game was freaking amazing and we all would have liked some new content, in whatever form it would have came in.
Playing the Alien would be too complex and not as fun in this instance.
As intriguing it may sound, I believe that's among the last thing this game needs.
This game excels through the singleplayer. Adding multiplayer would've wasted resources for singleplayer.
Not every game needs multiplayer ;)
