It really is an amazing mod. I hope it still works for me because I'm about ready to play the game again and it will be the first time doing so with the mod working.

I installed Nvidia Experience two weeks ago but deinstalled it again, maybe that messed up some of the settings. But i installed new nvidia drivers after that so i have no idea what the hell and what files were damaged. I even deinstalled Alien Isolation in steam and reinstalled it again, so it can't the game itself.

The mod should work for you if you haven't changed anything.

I hope a solution finds its way to you Xeno at some point. I'm on Windows 7 and the only issue I remember was that, if memory serves, I could not use the screenshot tool because of Windows 7.

It probably won't help, but what if you tried running the mod, letting it start AI like normal and once you load a game, try alt-tabbing or pressing windows key+L to log out and then back into your windows and then expand the game again and see what happens. I have to do that for some odd reason in games like Prey and Abzu to get the fps to smooth out to 60fps. Maybe it will jump start the mod.

Quitting steam, then launching the aliasIsolationInjectorGui.exe worked for me, thank you.

Ok guys. Good news. The Mod actually still works. I figured that you have to run the aliasIsolationInjector.exe (NOT THE aliasIsolationInjectorgui.exe) without opening Steam first. The aliasIsolationInjector.exe launches Steam, Steam launches the game, and during the loading screen the Mod kicks in - you can see the Alias Isolation Logo in the top left corner.

If I run the aliasIsolationInjector.exe through the search bar in Win10 the game crashes. I get a black screen after loading the Intro but I can hear sound. In the task bar I get a fatal error from the Mod. I made a shortcut from the aliasIsolationInjector.exe in my task bar. When I run it from there or the directory where the mod is located (downloads folder in my case) everything works just fine.

I hope this helps, this is an easy workaround. Go get the Game on Steam if you don't own it already. It costs 2 bucks on Steam because of the Alien Day. To me this A:I is the best survival horror game ever. And with this magic Mod, it is visually flawless.

You can even find more Mods like disabling the disgusting lensflare on Nexus mods.

I found you can still run aliasIsolationInjectorgui.exe as normal, just have to exit Steam first.

Still not working, i have lost all hope at this point cause i must have done something to my system unknowingly that even interferes with a game and a mod like this

I'm in the same boat. Out of curiosity, what is your CPU, GPU, and Nvidia driver? I'm running a Ryzen 5 2600/GTX 1080 with 441.66 as my driver.

Just noticed this post after solving cludging it myself yesterday...

There are undoubtedly more sophisticated ways than this, but here's what I did to trick it into working every time:

1: Change the original 'AI.exe' to something like 'AI_2.exe', and then make a copy of aliasIsolationGUI.exe and rename it to AI.exe

This means you run AliasIsolationGUI within the correct proton instance, instead of the game itself, when you launch it from Steam.

2: Once the Alias Isolation GUI loads up, rename AI_2.exe (the actual game file) back to AI.exe

This allows Alias Isolation to then load and hook into the game when you click 'Launch Alien: Isolation' in the still-open Alias Isolation GUI.

3: Once you know it works, run a simple renaming script to do the name changes for you. For example, I just run this snippet:

mv "YourPathTo/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Alien Isolation/AI.exe" tmp && mv "YourPathTo/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Alien Isolation/AI_2.exe" "YourPathTo/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Alien Isolation/AI.exe" && mv tmp "YourPathTo/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Alien Isolation/AI_2.exe" | wc -c "YourPathTo/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Alien Isolation/AI.exe"
That just alternates 'AI.exe' between the main game file and aliasIsolationGUI.exe (copy/rename it to AI_2.exe initially). The "wc" bit at the end is just a quick & dirty word count I use to see which file is currently set as AI.exe - the Alias Isolation file is 4MB, the game file is 20MB.

It's a shame Alias Isolation doesn't let you choose a file other than AI.exe to launch (and no doubt there's a proton-based way that may be less 'cludgy' than this) - but this works with minimal effort for me, so I thought I'd share it :)

EDIT: Moving the entire mod into the root of the game's folder, putting the game in a subfolder named "Launch," and redirecting the target file in the mod's GUI fixed it for me.

The issue is, that didn’t work for me. Or the other guy having issues. I hope that my post may help him.
